cant compare the vocation to be a priest to having an engineering degree and working for Google. The catholic priesthood is not in demand, except in 3rd world nations.
so
no strong stand the Pope can be make; if your parish priest wants to tie your child to a cross and laugh doing it, your family is just out of luck in a major way.
As a now-ex Catholic - here's how I see it. The church hierarchy no longer worships God, they worship the institution of the Church. They are more interested in maintaining their early power and prestige than they are in protecting the people of God. They should all be in jail, IMHO. Anyone who still looks to these people for moral guidance and listens to them carp about sin while being no just sinners, but criminals, needs to do so real soul searching.
Have to agree with this, as well as many of these huge religions. A small time church I have no problems with. They tend to be safe places where people down on their luck can get their bearings, and it's mostly a small community that gathers to celebrate life. But these huge cathedrals scream to me that they worship money, not God.

Same with TV evangelicals. They have been busted in the past. They prey on the vulnerable. I am not a fan of organized religion. I'm not a Christianity basher, nor Catholic basher, but it seems too many of these people are cashing in. I'm agnostic so who knows if there's a God or not, but if there is, I'm sure they'll have to answer when their time comes.
Actually, McCarrick is a US citizen who could be , at minimum, brought in for questioning by police
Police can't force a person to go in for questioning, if they do against the persons will, that is in effect an Arrest and must be supported by probable cause.
