Trump's speech patterns, facial grimacing and mean-spiritedness remind me of how my dad was acting just before his official diagnosis of Alzheimer's. My dad's disease was easy to spot because he could no longer do things for himself, like drive, use his computer, or read a book. Trump does none of those things so I suspect his diagnosis could be kept from the public for a very long time.
Just back from a visit with my stepmother now diagnosed with Alzheimers. Interesting to now look back at what were the earliest stages before she progressed to where a clinical analysis could be made. She was still very much *herself* but increasingly demonstrated confused or disorganized thinking, the types of behavior that easily might be brushed away as someone merely getting older.
What Trump has traditionally done well (the showmanship) he will continue to do well. This will mask an increasing lack of functionality in other areas that most would look for in a chief executive. Almost certainly he has an impaired ability to learn new material.
Go watch old interviews of Trump. Now watch a current one. The differences are stunning. Trump used to be incredibly well spoken, and coherent. Its not just him talking down to his base. It really is massive decline in capability.

That’s because Mueller wasn’t tightening the noose back then.
