I get the analogy, but obviously, the slaves would have been much more content with multi million $$ salaries.
If the football players are oppressed by “the man”, then aren’t we all oppressed by our employers, who get to dictate our behavior at work?
This is America, so it's only fitting that college dropouts (save for sherman or ones who actually graduated) who get paid millions to play a kid's game and endorse products whine about oppression.
No wonder half these guys end up bankrupt after retirement. If only they focused more on their personal finances than empty gestures to divide America, they wouldn't have to complain about any oppression.

If they thought more about money and less about working conditions they wouldn't complain about working conditons - fair point.
They have a constitutional right to kneel for the anthem, and I support them to do it. They can also burn the flag if they want, I have no problem with that either. Its kind of an awesome thing about this country.
The problem is, they are employees of the NFL, and the NFL has the right to fire them if it goes against their policy. They are in no danger of being arrested or charged with a crime, but I doubt many of them want to sacrifice their salary for it. Besides, its a bogus cause.

Huh? If they thought more about money, they could actually give some back to the community instead of blowing it on alimony, lawyer fees, child support, overpriced houses they can't sell for a profit, and depreciating cars and jewelry. Then hoping and kneeling that white guilt liberals are the ones who give back to these communities instead.
This has nothing to do with working conditions.
Lebron James built his own school and he sure as hell didn't kneel for it.

Your negative stereotypes are noted
What that implies about you is also noted.
You must work for a company that has no rules about how employees are expected to conduct themselves while they're on the clock.
I have said this here many times which many seem not to get. The anthem rule that was in place at time of when the current "Collective Bargaining Agreement" went in to place did not require players to stand. Under a CBA any such rule or policy change should be agreed to by both parties.
The owners attempted to change it and the Players Assoc. (The Union) filed a grievance against the owners. Now both sides are talking. The league has told Jerry Jones to keep his mouth shut while these talks are on-going. Jerry Jones can say all he wants but what ever the league/players assoc agree to concerning the NA, Jones will be obligated to abide by it.
