I always wondered about some of the "posters" on various forum who have 30,000 or 50,000 posts. All hours of every day and every night on the same forums. Russian bots have been detected and exposed as going on threads and demanding proof, sources, & evidence on anything factual, to muddy the waters of reality. It's one of their most effective tactics and putin/Moscow couldn't be more pleased.
I think it’s the opposite. Posters with a few hundred posts start threads that stir controversy then never come back to defend of elaborate. Their simple mission is division.
I’m always willing to provide a source when sharing an obscure fact, or making ANY statistical claim, but asking for a source for anything that is widely known as an attempt to muddy the waters. They are hoping that the poster either too busy to find a source, or that they post a source that respondent considers “fake news”, which for many posters on this board includes most scientists and the entire mainstream media.
Your position on who shares the burden of proof is just that - your opinion.
In reality, anyone making a claim ABSOLUTELY CAN BE ASKED TO PROVIDED SOURCES AND TO SHOW THEIR WORK.
And people should be able to demand proof without being called Russian bots.
True, but this really ignores the point of the OP.
I think his point was that people who AUTOMATICALLY demand proof, without any other argument, and when the same people have a history of posting 24/7, everyday, THAT raises suspicion.
If you are in an argument, participating, and someone makes a ridiculous claim, then asking for proof is warranted. If your entire posting history consists of nothing more than trying to cast doubt by asking for proof on anything that is "pro-this" or "anti-that", it gives the appearance of algorithm fueled posting, and should be suspect.
In short: A canned response to anything and everything to require proof is just a form of gaslighting and deflection. If it is part of an intelligent discussion, that is fine. If it is not, then it's (at least) suspect.

There is NO question that some of our "members" here just got off the plane from Mother Russia. I think a lot of us have our own suspicions about who they are. Some of their threads and posts are as obvious as the nose on your face.

They are too lazy to even post an entire sentence.
That particular poster may not have evidence, but the CIA and FBI certainly do, and they have been warning us of just such activities.
Why do right-wingers disbelieve what our intelligence agencies are telling us?
Is it because the cheeto told them to?
Do they ever fact-check the cheeto?
Because our intelligence agencies have demonstrated a repeated and ongoing tendency to lie to the American people, and to corrupt the justice process in pretty spectacular fashion.
By the way, this is why we have checks and balances built into the US Constitution. Human beings have a tendency to become corrupt when entrusted with power. You may have heard the phrase: "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
Anyone who is advocating blind trust of any individual or group of individuals should definitely not be trusted. Of course the people who are doing that are almost entirely among the relentlessly lying and hugely divisive and manipulative Democrat left.
As far as the 'Cheeto' comments in your post, you just make yourself look like a troll when you do that. Just FYI.
Not everyone. They still have the racists and anti-Semites.
Keep it up. All you and your ilk are doing with this is solidifying the resolve of those on the right to vote against you, even if it means Trump again.
