That's part of what people do instead of trying to find real solutions. They keep score to make sure they can blame one party over the other one. Both sides of the aisle do tis and both sides skew the math so that in their mind, there side is always right. It's part of the overall problem with politics today. Part of the solution is to stop playing that dumb game. We could all learn that lesson

Not sure. Does it matter? Does someone who gets it from diet matter less than someone who gets in through genetics?

So you are against Medicare and will reject it when you turn 65?

Now, how is this possible......

1. Print Money
2. Borrow more.....

2/3 of ALL this 11K per person health care is paid for by the US Government. The US Government keeps borrowing more and more...for this reason!

I am going to sound like a broken record...but

Family guy on here (example) who feels he pays more than enough in taxes....
Family of 4 - two adults, two children

44K in Health Care Costs
24K in school costs (2 kids in school).
6K plus for the Security State
10K roughly for all else from roads to general government infrastructure and more.
--------
84,000 in taxes this family needs to pay.......local, state and federal.

My Guess as to income and taxes.....
160K income
Taxes paid
5,000 local taxes
30,000 Federal Taxes
8,000 State Taxes
--------
43,000 paid.

So, this family "only" requires $41,000 in welfare each year in order to survive.
What about the family of 4 who pays many times more than that in taxes, therefore being forced to pay for others, as well? How is that anything but slavery?

What does that have to do with the Urban Institute?

Yes, it does matter. One is self-inflicted. Hard to feel sorry someone who deliberately made themselves ill can't afford their meds and health care.

Only among people who lack compassion. And disease is often a mix of many factors anyway. But lets not confuse people too much.

Compassion for those who ate so much and or so poorly that they made themselves obese and/or diabetic? It was a conscious choice on their part.

I feel compassion for those who through no fault of their own were injured by someone else. For example, a drunk driver's victims. Many people do. That's why fundraisers for them are so successful. People don't mind pooling their money voluntarily to help them out.

Hmm coming from someone who thinks their dreams/wants/needs should be funded from money taken from their neighbor at gunpoint.
Maybe remove the log from your own eye

So you are a member of the gunpoint crowd? The same libertarian nuts who think driver's licences should be available for blind people? Anyone with a brain knows what the consequences are of moving towards a medieval charity based society. Its death, despair and massive suffering for the underprivileged. Only libertarian nuts and people who lack compassion want such a society.
