Nobody is saying this woman was not sexually harassed by two drunk boys at a HS party. She most likely was. The questions is was one of the boys Judge Kavanaugh.
Now if Kavanaugh has to step down this circus better not end there. Now that these accusations were publicly made and Ford said under oath she is 100% it was Kavanaugh and I assume Kavanaugh will state he is 100% he did not do this... someone needs to go to jail for perjury. I don't care who, whomever is lying. I don't care if it takes a year to come to the bottom of it. If this is just forgotten like yesterdays news and everyone (including Ford) goes on the merry way that will be disguisting.
Not going to happen. The court of public opinion doesn't get to vote. Senators do. At this point, nothing is to be gained by withdrawing. It would only save a few days in the renomination process. He will be confirmed or not based on an actual vote.
And let's take a step back. The Dems seem to be winning because the plaintiff is telling her story. This is normal in trials. The momentum often turns when the defendant phase gets going. Remember the OJ trial? The first week or two had it looking like a slam-dunk case for the prosecution, then the defense had their turn. Don't pronounce any hearing "winners" until this evening.
I certainly hope not, and that's why I said 'THUS FAR'. I think we still have a lot to see today, but if there is no bombshell to expose her lies, the court of public opinion does matter overall.
I don't believe that anyone would be this upset at what she says happened 37 years ago. She seems to cry at the drop of a hat that she drops. I don't buy it.
Thank your lucky stars then that either you or anyone you may know hasn't had this experience because just talking about it CAN bring back all the bad feelings even 50 years later.
I'll be interested in seeing how women across the country view this. A bunch of old men grilling a woman on a sexual assault doesn't provide good optics to many of women who have seen this play out like this too many times in the past. The GOP should be cognizant of this fact, though I don't think they're that long-sighted.
Are you even watching? All of the Republicans have yielded their question time to a single woman who is questioning her on their behalf. The only old men ''questioning" (i.e., fawning over) her are Democrats. This woman is being handled with kid gloves by both sides, and the Republicans will not be thanked for it. Clearly.
As I have said twice in this thread. Perception is everything. Flip around to different channels and you will get opposing views from different prosecutors.
Rumor is 2 men have come forward today saying they were the ones that were the boys that assaulted Ford????
