If I were a successful man, I'd be worried that some chick I dated in high school or college would come out with outlandish accusations as revenge for some real or imagined slight, knowing she could get away with it.
Attempted rape, is hardly a “slight.” And if someone molested you as a young person, you would surely remember every detail of the physical experience. Believe me, you DO.
And what woman would make something like that up in this era of shaming women for accusing powerful men?
There is no evidence she is willing to give testimony to the FBI.
She made the request through her attorney for an FBI investigation after the FBI already put out a statement they would not be investigating the matter.
We all see that tactic for what it is.
We do know that Lord/s Lawyer Katz ran around to all the media saying "Dr Lord wants to testify to the Judicial Committee" ........ until they postponed their vote and scheduled a meeting for her to do her "testify".
THEN she refused. Why would anyone thing that Dr. Lord would actually talk to the FBI? I bet she has not even considered that IF they got involved, SHE would be the first one they interrogated. It's a crime to LIE to the FBI -- would she really take that chance? Would her Lawyer take that chance? I doubt it.
I would not be surprised at all if the FBI is already investigating HER. Kavanaugh is a Federal Judge and likely to be a US Supreme Court Judge - He is under the protection of the US Marshall Service, but they might be interested in knowing more about Dr Ford and her accusations.
Dr Lord (and her high school) have scrubbed the Internet and Social Media of her existence - but nothing is ever really gone. I've already seen her high school year books - not pretty.
I think it's interesting that one person is BEGGING for an FBI investigation and the other person is not.

She has nothing to lose. If after the investigation the FBI finds nothing, then it remains a he said vs she said issue.
The FBI can't say it never happened, they can only say they haven't found any evidence of it happening. She and the dubious Dems win by having the vote postponed.
Let's see how this plays out. Because if the Pubs cram Kavanaugh through w/o investigation, it'll likely show up in the polls in a few weeks, with women nationwide energized. And if they slag all over Dr Ford in a public hearing, they'll energize women that way, too.

Because she has to be able to tell when it happened, where it happened, how many were there, and why are the her doctors notes wrong, to start the investigation....
Again, bring that to ANY judge and you'll get laughed out of court, period....

I absolutely agree with you. If there's no physical evidence whatsoever, and only the testimony of a woman about something that happened THRITY years ago and she can't even remember where she was, than an FBI investigation would bundle all of that information together into a report and formally send that to the committee. All the more reason I would think the GOP would welcome a formal FBI investigation, as it would make Catherine Ford and the democrats look incredibly silly.
My point is, it would leave no room for doubt. IF the committee pushes through with just hearings on Monday and no formal investigation, the democrats will continue to scream and shout about how this is unfair. But if a formal FBI investigation was done, it would completely squash the dems complaints and they'd have nothing else to whine about.
Hypothetical: IT NEVER HAPPENED. Catherine Ford is lying, this is all a political stunt to delay the Kavanaugh confirmation. (which is what a lot of Trump supporters believe)
A formal, unbiased, non-partisan investigation by the FBI is conducted. Catherine Ford, Brett Kavanaugh, Mark Judge, and others at the party are questioned by the FBI and nothing comes of it. There is no evidence and all the witnesses (outside of Ford of course) say there was no sexual assault. Since there isn't much there to begin with, the investigation takes 2 weeks at the most. The investigation is over.
A week later, the FBI releases a formal report that absolves Kavanaugh of any wrongdoing. Democrats look stupid and their efforts to delay the Kavanaugh confirmation get exposed, boosting GOP poll numbers for November and hurting Dems.
The investigation and formal report by the FBI only takes 2 weeks, still over 30 days before 11/6, so the vote to confirm Kavanaugh is not impacted at all by mid-terms at all.
Kavanaugh is formally absolved by an official investigation, democrats get dragged through the mud bigly, and GOP gets a yuge boost for November 6th while the "blue wave" dissipates.

That will never happen, especially under the circumstances you describe. The most they would report in your hypothetical is that she claimed to be assaulted and the two males claim it didn't happen.
They will make no judgement of who is telling the truth.

You don't know that at all. They'll need to do a lot of digging, interviewing people going back 35 years or so. It ain't gonna happen in a couple of weeks. They are starting with zero information.
