Kavanaugh wasn't a federal employee in the early 1980s when this incident "supposedly" happened. Therefore, the FBI doesn't have jurisdiction.
The senate judiciary requested the investigation for Anita Hill, it had nothing to do with Thomas being a federal employee. They can request an investigation again and a few days it will be over.
Back during the Thomas hearings Orin Hatch wanted an FBI investigation, the new Orin Hatch is silent.
get a clue.....both were federal employees and sexual harrrasment is a federal crime and at least Anita had details, dates and names where the FBI investigators could actually start an investigation and do a report to the Senate.
Dr. Ford's allegation is not a federal crime.....she doesn't even know the year, date or house....she doesn't know how she got there and how she got home....she didn't tell a friend or a family of anything, not even that she would be at this particular party in 1982.
....she can't even prove the house or party even existed.....see the problem with the FBI? all they can do is take her statement and his and give it to the Senate because this is not a criminal investigation.
and if it's just giving statements, they don't need the FBI, both can give their statements under oath and answer question directly to the Senate.
one again, this can't be a criminal investigation, so the FBI is useless.....just taking statements and answering questions for the record the Senate can do that.
The Senate Judiciary Committee is giving Christine Blasey Ford's attorney until the end of the day Friday to work out terms of next week’s proposed hearing on Ford’s allegations that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her, according to a Republican senator.
The GOP is offering to hold the hearing on Wednesday after Ford sought Thursday and is meeting some of her requests but not others, the senator said. The senator added that Republicans are not inclined to agree with Ford’s lawyers that she should only be questioned by lawmakers — not an outside counsel.
“We’ll do it on Wednesday, we expect the accuser before the accused, and we do intend to have the counsel do the questioning,” the senator said, summing up the Republicans’ stance.
The party is assenting to two of the terms Ford’s lawyers laid out in a Thursday evening call with staff from both parties, the senator said: limiting the hearing to one camera and ensuring that Kavanaugh is not in the same room as her.
The FBI reopens background checks as a usual matter.
I think they did with Abe Fortas when evidence came out that he smoked pot, with Tower when evidence came out about his boozing, ...
Why they are not doing it now is pause for thought.
it has been explained 1,000 times here.....if you don't get it, it's on you.
This can't be a criminal investigation.....all the FBI can do is get staments from her, from him and whoever she named in the room and forwarded to the Senate. The Senate would still want to ask them both questions under oath for the record.
you don't need the FBI to give a statement and answer questions on the record....this is not a criminal investigation or criminal trial.
