Oh the revisionism. The pain! The Republicans were never in favor of re-doing NAFTA. Hating on NAFTA (and other trade agreements) has been a Democrat talking point for a couple decades now. Trump is doing the same thing with respect to trade and tariffs that Bernie Sanders has advocated. Trump is more Democrat than Republican in many ways.

It does not matter what he says or what the left says. Because both sides exaggerate the facts for their benefit.

If it looks good I will say so. And if its a whole bunch of nothing I will call Trump out. I am not a slave for either party.

I think we need to see the details this is very premature. Congress still needs to ratify and you can bet there will be both winners and losers. He didn’t release one detail, now why is that the case, as usual celebrating way too early. These claims sound similar to the ACA replacement, let’s wait.

TeamTrump "looked at it", so did US and Canadian Unions ...... did you even read this article?
All the way to the end???

Everyone knew this would be a rough fight in TPP. Mexico and Canada wanted rules of origin even higher than 62.5 percent, to make sure automakers would keep relying on their factories, while Japan wanted to slash the requirement to just 30 percent, so its automakers could continue to rely on parts from China and Thailand. In America, car companies wanted lower rules to maximize their flexibility, while unions wanted higher rules to protect American manufacturing jobs. At first, the United States proposed rules similar to NAFTA’s, but Japan flatly refused to even discuss them, insisting it was absurd to expect Japanese automakers to meet much higher standards in its home markets if they would still face hefty tariffs in the United States. And Obama’s negotiators say U.S. automakers and unions had all urged them to make their top priority maintaining U.S. tariffs against Japanese cars and trucks for as long as possible, a priority they had achieved in a big way.

The NAFTA battle has always been about China/Asia and auto parts. Rules of Origin IS the main issue.
Obama was going to take it (via TPP) from 62.5% to 30% actually produced in NAFTA countries. TeamTrump is taking it from 62.5% to 75% actually produced in NAFTA countries.

TPP doesn't exist anymore - a new group formed at this time Justin of Canada shafted his own Country and cut a special side deal to allow Asian auto parts to flood into Canada and be put on cars shipped via NAFTA.

Change for NAFTA itself requires approval by all 3 countries - Canada, Mexico and the US. And that will take some time to negotiate. Far more than 4 days.
They have been negotiating for over a year - Mexico and the USA reached a bi-lateral agreement. The minute that agreement is approved by Congress and signed by both Mexico and the USA -- it's in effect and if Canada does not enter into an agreement with Mexico and the USA then they deal with the tariffs, as do we.

The renegotiation of NAFTA has always been mainly about the Autos and car parts ... That's where the MONEY is.

They have had a year and many meetings to "figure it out" & everyone involved certainly knows the issues and positions ..... the Canadian Team thought they had a fool proof "plan".
They figured they could string this whole NAFTA thing past the Mid-terms when the Famous Blue Wave would return the House to the Leftists. Foreign Minister Freeland has been meeting regularly with Democrats, giving speeches to them and getting promises from them. -- The promised Blue Wave would make the NAFTA Negotiations stop.

This is not a secret - if I knew about it (many articles on her "plan" and meetings) you can bet TeamTrump knew about it. These Canadian fools never once asked themselves .....

"What if we are Wrong??". Ooops, looks like TeamTrump did an end run and gave up on their stall until the Democrats ride to the rescue on a Surf Board riding the Great Blue Wave.

Now they have until Friday ..... The Rubber had hit the Road.

Same for the Democrats that were actively working against the American Manufacturing companies and American Workers - while conspiring with Canada.

The Rubber meets the Road for them when they have to VOTE. The VOTE will take place before the end of November, but you can bet that President Trump will be explaining the entire thing at his Rallies between now and then.
