I guarantee that this a better deal for the United States than it was before Trump took office. The money the U.S saves will be in the billions. Then Trump will say because of the deal that we have saved money for the wall. So guess what? He will say Mexico paid for the wall. Trump will win big time on this one!!!

That's pinning a lot on a deal that we know nothing about, hasn't been ratified, and ignores the second biggest part of this three legged stool.

Of course not. Obama wouldn't attempt to make America better. He leveragedid NAFTA again the United States on purpose to prolong the recession and further develop a welfare state.

And now this administrative 'deal' with Mexico. No legal standing. Just an "understanding".

We have a legal deal with Mexico currently in place. That stays until Congress votes. The timing means that the new Congress will vote on this, and with no details on the Mexico Admin Agreement there is nothing to comment on.

Listening to the blowhard talking about the biggest, the greatest, the most world shattering 'deal' was pretty clear that is it a nothing burger.

Another Trump mess. Nothing to see here, other than chaos. Move along.
This post is 100% wrong. The current Congress has until the end of the year to vote on it.

Maybe that poster is a retired TIME cop, you know, like Jean Claude VanDam.

I believe it is six months to remove and replace NAFTA. That would put it out to February. Until then, the current NAFTA deal is the law of the land. Knowing nothing about the internal workings of this new administrative deal, it may turn out that there is nothing in there except for a couple of items. The rest is part of the "we'll see' strategy of this current administration.

(Update: Congress is saying that anything which does not include Canada, who has been with us for six years as part of NAFTA, is a non starter.)

I recommend we reconvene when we know what the deal is.

But the message we most often hear is we should hate Trump no matter what he does and Dems love a $ 15 min. wage. They will no doubt like Trump and vote for him in 2020 if its $ 16 min wage.

Now its being reported the $ 16 per/hr. is related to auto manufacturing.

It puts to bed that the working class doesn't benefit by Trump's policy. This is what the Dems have been saying they want.
Nancy said she was for working families. Then she said she wanted to take back their crumbs so that's a little confusing when she talks out of both sides of her mouth.

If true, it's gonna raise costs for just about everybody. And thus, the price of cars will have to go up as well.

I posted a link to news about the preliminary agreement. It's not an absolute minimum wage for everyone.

"In order to qualify for tariff-free status in the North American market, the United States is pushing for 40% of the content of cars and 45% of the content of pickup trucks to be made by workers who are paid at least US $16 per hour."

The purpose is to level the playing field. We already meet that standard. We are pushing Mexico to meet that standard so that auto makers do not have a big wage incentive to shift production to Mexico. The average auto worker in this country makes $16/hour. The average Mexican worker makes $3/hour.
