Maybe he put down the red mat to help him identify his own door because he once almost walked into a cop's apartment.

No, they won’t.

So all the lights were off and the man was in his underwear - perhaps having gone to bed - yet his door was unlocked?

Were all the lights off when she entered or did she conveniently turn them off after the fact?

And what happened to the first narrative where she struggled with the key because the door wouldn't open and it was still jammed in the lock when others had arrived?

And were the lights also off in the hallway so she couldn't see the red mat?

The problem was never her being arrested, the problem is her being convicted.

I doubt this guy is getting the full demon treatment. It's already turning into "he scared her".. I suspect we'll get stories that continue to show he made some move that left her feeling threatened. You now, he lunged at her or yelled or something. People will question his actions and it will be regarded as an unfortunate, tragic accident. And she won't be found guilty.

She was okay driving to her apartment complex after working all those hours but couldn't remember what floor she lived on?

If the door was open, why was she struggling to open the door with a key?

Who sleeps with their front door unlocked?

What happened to the witness accounts of hearing the cop say "Open up , Police!"?

She never fumbled with the key. She put the key in, but the door was unlocked and it opened right up.
That is why I never leave my door unlocked in my apartment, although that is also a little strange because all apartments that I have lived in, modern apartments, automatically lock when closed; but I guess that is apartment specific.

That is still not an excuse for what happened, but just a reminder to always take precautions. I live in a nice apartment with lots of professionals, but you never know. Even though I feel perfectly safe I always make sure my door is locked.

Or, really tired, still no excuse. If Police were not trained to kill, maybe that man would have had a chance. Police and ordinary citizens are way too trigger happy. IMO

Her excuses sound fishy. Being a law enforcement officer is not for everyone. She does not seem very alert or a critical thinker. How tragic, any way you look at this incident.

I didn't see anyone say that.

I said that any non-cop would have been taken into custody immediately. As this woman should have.

I have on occasion forgotten to lock my front door & I don’t realize it until I leave the next morning. So yeah, it happens.

Reports now say he was a youth pastor along with being an educated accountant. Not good, this woman needs to be locked up for atleast 3-4 years. I’m pro-cop but this is incompetent reckless Rambo behavior.

If you’re tired, drunk, high, whatever you still don’t gun down someone before drawing your weapon and asking them to get on the ground so you can call for backup. This gives them time to comply. Now, if you just want to be rambo then this is what happens.

And I love how the cops say he died at the hospital. Look at the video, the guy was dead already as they “pretended” to do CPR on him.

If you cannot refrain from killing innocent people, turn in your damn badge now.
