We have a lot of volatile weather out here. I got the alert for a water spout (on the sound, mind you, not even on the ocean), as I and several other people I was with watched it pass by.

Why do we have this, when they ALREADY had emergency alerts you could opt into? Why call it a "presidential alert", rather than an "emergency alert"?
I DO NOT want that alert thing to go off on my phone. Now I'm facing having to turn off the ringer if he uses this for anything other than a true national (or local) emergency the population needs to know about for security reasons.
No we don't. This is fine, but we don't need more. And hopefully this test went well. If not then I'd back your idea that we need more of them. Otherwise...lets do this every couple years, and its all good.
People on the right are so weird about this, acting like its "Trumps national alert system". Its not. Its ours as a nation. Or "Its triggered the libs yay!" uhmm...no? What a bunch of nonsense.
And then those on the left. "Hes going to abuse this!". Thats fear mongering nonsense. He is going to do nothing of the sort. If he does do it, then you will see a lot of upset people, but until then calm down. Dont make up unreasonable fears like some right winger going on about open borders. Its nonsense.
I did not get an alert on my phone.
Did you?
In case of an emergency I am toast.
