You don't know who did this or why. And, you don't know if it was someone checking to see how easy it was to do this sort of thing.

There are some genuine nutjobs in the world, and they don't all stand on one or the other side of the party line.

Either this guy is an amateur flunky or whoever sent them knew they would not go off. No one in their right mind would think you could mail a bomb to ex Presidents and get away with it. I bet there is way more to this than we think. Who stands to gain if conservatives are painted out as crazy bombers two weeks before an election?

Well, know that when I hear that some people may have been sent explosive devices, strange powder, etc... I always think "calculated, partisan attack" instead of "crazy person."

Not only that, but what does get through is opened by staff. We used to have to mail stuff to a former first lady (now deceased) and there was a procedure. She never opened a piece of mail herself. Alias names, addresses, etc.. You don't ever hear about it, but Secret Service is on top of this stuff. They are very good.

I sure wouldn't want to be working in the mailroom these days. these mailroom workers handling bomb packages are like Caesar's food tasters in rome!
