Frankly, those that support her make me think they are the same kind of people who voted for and put Hugo Chavez in power, so am I terrified? no but I am concerned. It too often seems the same, the message of I'm like you lets get back at those evil rich people, then they get in power and consolidate power for themselves to insure their is no rival to oppose against them and they become elite and rich themselves while their voters remain poor or more poor in the end.
And yes I'm going to stereotype a bit . that seems the central and south American latin way too often. Corruption in latin politics in central and south America seems a constant pattern.

So what is your point, what does Latin American politics have to with her other than her surname. Do you think any person of Hispanic descent will be a Latin American politician reagrdless of geographic location.
Did she ever consider because she is the youngest congresswoman at 29 people may assume she is a spouse or intern. Maybe everything in life isnt about racism or sexism.
This is true, but what is lame it is hard to know at times when a person claiming racism/sexism is being genuine with that claim vs. just pulling those cards for attention.

I have my doubts it happened, she desperately needed a way to distract from the pounding she's taking from Democrats for the stunt she pulled at Pelosi's office.

No I don't think ever latin person or politician thinks or acts the same, nor do I think they might be more capable of being corrupt, at least not here in the U.S.A. However since she does tout being a socialist and she goes out of her way to say how she is "of color" at every opportunity, I do see a lot of similar character to Chavez along with those that did or would support Chavez. If she was a politician in central or south America I think she would fit right in.
A good looking young female version of Bernie Sanders? Sounds like quite a formidable opponent, she should run in 2020. Prob the best option the Dems have for beating Trump.
I dont agree with most of what, if anything, she says, but I can respect her for shaking things up a bit. Going to the protest in front of Pelosi's office was epic. Most other dems just bend over and fawn and drool over the old washed up Pelosi. At least she has some balls.
And...gotta say...it is interesting how, apart from Obama, it always tends to be female politicians.
Pelosi, Warren, Hillary....they always seem to draw the most ire. I've even seen Kamala Harris portrayed as overly aggressive in demeanor, and radical in her beliefs.
People may make fun of Biden, Schumer, Franken, but it's not with the level of vitriol you see toward those above.
This prediction seems rather baseless, in what way is she similar to Trump?
Frankly I'm rather surprised that you feel this way. I think she communicates just fine. What is it about the way she communicates that bothers you? Why do you think she's incompetent?
Yes - Conservatives are obsessed with Democratic females who have any semblance of power.

I predict the attacks will get much worse as she continues to gain popularity and visibility. Get ready for AOC Derangement Syndrome.
It's already here. This is just one thread of many started about her by conservatives.

She can't....too young for that. Small possibility if she is allowed to run in 2024 since she would be 35 by inaguration, but that's not likely. 2028 is the earliest.

This doesn't really make sense to me. Where are you getting this perception that people who support Ocasio-Cortez are the same kind of people who put Hugo Chavez in power? Why do you think she's someone who would get in power and consolidate it for herself and enrich herself through political office? Alternatively, why does she remind you of that?
I'll say for myself as someone on the left, I like her, but like many others, I'm still feeling her out. I'm excited by her prospects the way I'd be excited for a rookie that shows promise on one of my favorite sports teams.
As a side note, our country's hands aren't exactly clean when it comes to the installation of Latin American dictators, but that's as separate topic altogether and not fit for the thread.
