Do more research on Paris and various cities in Europe. The demographics, the neighborhoods tourist agencies tell you to avoid.

Who knows but maybe they will have another Paris summit where Al Gore and all his Holywood friends will fly in on their Private Green Jets.

I love the Bolivian protests the best! Roll boulders onto the roads throughout the country, or block the roads with upturned cars, and it sure as hell gets the attention of their leaders! And, they usually win!
Americans are so cowardly that they’re taken aback when they see other people put their foot down and challenge their national leadership.

The Revolution did instill within certain segments of French society this mania or whatever for going to the streets and barricades at almost the slightest provocation.

President Emmanuel Macron didn't have much of a honeymoon with the French people, but then again neither did his predecessor and IIRC the president previous to M. Hollande .

At its heart France has the same problems many other European nations and indeed the United States suffers; the vast demographic known as "working class" men and women are seeing themselves fall further and further down the economic ladder. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/02/w...-protests.html

The French Revolution supposedly began over bread ( S'ils n'ont pas de pain, qu'ils mangent de la brioche), now the street is upset over petrol prices.

Great!! It’s a beautiful thing.

Clearly, increases in "carbon taxes" result in increased CO2 and particulate emissions.

At least...they do in France. We shouldn't let anything like that happen here, certainly.

one afternoon while wandering near the Sorbonne, a major protest by students broke out. I jumped inside a café, drank coffee, and watched through the windows as shouting protesters broke windows, attacked police, and threw paint on monuments and the beautiful facades of buildings on this historic street. so much property was destroyed, but no one in the café was attacked. One of the scariest experiences of my life.

So the French want lower taxes, restrictions on unchecked immigration, and freedom from oppression by an overly imposing federal government.

These aspirations increasingly look like they may be universal, people. But globalism and the elites that it exists for have no place for the aspirations of the population (populism = the people).

Hence the protests. The battle is on and it will not stop.

Lol...you’re really gonna accuse the French people of reading the Republican Party platform and deciding to riot in order to force their government to implement it?

You folks on CD man.😂

You oughta be ashamed that Americans won’t get off their lazy behinds and riot too. That smirk on Mitch McConnell’s face is him saying that he’s gonna take care of your boss, but YOU can go suck an egg. And if you don’t like it, tough doodoo. What are you gonna do about it? Oh yeah...nothing.
In the United States that's called "felony rioting" and punishable by a term in Prison, not a jail, but a hardcore Prison where if you're a guy, you better not drop your soap in the shower. Also, we all know the Far-Left don't give a dang about the average small business/property owner since to the Far-Left, burning down their shops and destroying some poor working stiff's car is OK, just the means to some imaginary end that makes no freaking sense to a guy/gal trying to pay their bills and put food on the table for their family.

Both in France and Europe, things are very different and rioting is perfectly fine with them. Try that "sheet" in most parts of the U.S... That are away from liberal Hell-Holes like Detroit, NYC, Chicago, LA, Seattle and Baltimore, rioters and their tag along friends, the looters, would most likely be shot by law-biding citizens in the protection of life and property... Good luck in trying to get a jury to convict a business/home owner who shot a rioter/looter trying to burn down their business/home... After stealing everything.

Idiots on both the Far-Left and the Far-Right need to remember that there are more Americans in the Center that will resist any serious criminal acts that threatens our lives and property.

If you're an American who has the overpowering need to riot, I highly recommend that you fly to Europe and get that "sheet" out of your system since too many honest American citizens own guns and if forced to defend themselves from criminals, they will.

Be very careful on what you wish for since it might not end the way you think it will.

You’re being far too garrulous for what you’re trying to say. No need for that. I get it. Americans should just take it up the rear from their government, and sit quietly as their body politic sells out middle class Americans, abandons poor Americans, and passes legislation that enables all the wealth of this country to shoot straight to the top. Folks like you won’t be happy until the only job available to your children is stocking shelves at Walmart.

And you’ll say that if we want changes, you have to do it at the ballot box despite both government houses and federal branches changing political parties perpetually....to static results at best. If there’s any progress from our elected politicians to help the middle class and below, it’s so sclerotic as to not even be noticeable.

Your president just gave the folks you worship (the rich) huge tax cuts, huge corporate tax cuts, and an incentive to have them bring trillions of dollars in overseas stashes back to this country. They’ve not only NOT brought any of those trillions back, but they’re still looking to outsource jobs, put Americans out of work, and use the savings for more stock buybacks. All aided and abetted by your government.

The American people are cowards. No other first world nation besides this one would sit on their duffs drinking beer while their political class not only allowed, but assisted the plutocrats in looting the country blind.

You should have near obsequious admiration, not insolence towards the French people for standing up and doing what your society is too afraid and browbeaten to do. You should be ashamed that Americans haven’t taken to the streets and demanded that our politicians DO SOMETHING to enlarge and strengthen the middle class in this country. A nation is only as good as its middle class. You should know better.

But you don’t. So you heap calumny towards people with the courage to stand up. That’s too bad. Seriously.
