The Bureau of Reclamation built both the Hoover Dam (Lake Mead) and the Glen Canyon Dam (Lake Powell) under the premise that these major dam building projects would pay for themselves by generating hydrological power. In order for the turbines to keep turning, water must flow over the spillways of the two dams. When the water elevations fall so low that power can no longer be generated the reservoir/lake becomes a "dead pool." For Lake Mead that elevation is 1,050 feet. As of today, it was at a dangerously low 1,078 feet. Lake Mead Water Level

Engineers once thought that the possibility of Mead reaching dead pool status was all but non-existent. Global warming has proven them wrong. The SouthWest has been enduring one of the worst droughts in the past 5 centuries and drought has been exacerbated by rising temperatures. Some predictions show that Mead will reach dead pool as soon as 2020. The Durango Herald published a great story about this back in August. An outstanding book on the subject is "Dead Pool" by James L. Powell.

Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and California all depend on the diminishing waters of the Colorado River and millions of people get their electricity generated for them at Lake Mead and Lake Powell. The West is in a very worrisome place thanks to climate change. Attitudes like that expressed by OP are even more ludicrous than he thinks.
Thanks. I had a hunch that was what the subject of the reference, but I didn't know the correct term.

Many people promised relief in the past week. Since Friday, sunrise has become 1 minute later. Little relief on sunset. Crisis ongoing and worsening. I'm scared.

So you except the scientific community’s prediction that the amount of daylight will now begin to increase?

There is a scientific cause for more cloudy and gloomy days. When the sun goes into a cooling phase like now with fewer sunspots, there is an increase in solar cosmic ray radiation. Which will heat up the Earth's ionosphere and create more water vapor. More precipitation and cloud cover along with cooler temperatures.

Absolutely, we really need to stand up and revolt against this!!

Just imagine if 100s of 1000s of people all banded together and set out to stop this darkness?!

Getting dark at 5pm is totally unacceptable imo.

I think we need the politicians and entertainers to weigh in, as they did on climate at Bali, Kyoto, Paris, Cancun and Katowice.

if you want consistent length days, then figure a way to change the earth rotational axis from 23 degrees tilt to a vertical axis. then teh days and seasons will all be the same across the globe.
