Why would the US shut down our government because Mexico refuses to pay for the wall?

Both sides have interests in illegal alien labor, either directly or indirectly. Trump must whip up support for his racist base to stay in power..

Um, because he's asking for the funds from our treasury now? Quit crying about Mexico paying for the wall and get on the side of our national security, will you?

So you want to erect a wall to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country while inviting those same people to come on a temporary visa who can then easily overstay or disappear into society? Sounds like $25 billion well spent.
