Trump and Pelosi should compromise. Instead of $5.7B for the wall, make it $3B for a wall and $3B to build detention centers to house 800,000 (two year's worth of apprehensions).

Pelosi and Schumer have both said that border security is important, HOWEVER, the wall is not the way to do it. Improved technology, better enforcement, etc ARE effective, a stupid wall is just a joke.

The worst thing is, as McConnell knows, you can't negotiate with Trump, get a deal and 10 minutes later shoot it down. Trump does not have the ability to make a deal.

Improved technology and better enforcement are effective at catching more illegals, they are totally ineffective at keeping illegals out of America. Thanks to flawed laws and liberal court rulings that impose catch-and-release policies on us.

Bc it's a dumb idea! That's it. We keep trying to discuss it like it's not a dumb idea, but it is. "We're going to keep people out of this country by building a wall. A big wall."

If someone said they were going to make a prison that was just 4 really tall walls, would you think that prison would work? No bc a wall to keep people from going somewhere is a dumb idea.

And now we want to spend way more than $5B on a dumb idea that makes people feel like something's being done.

Would you trust just tall walls to keep inmates in jail?

Its a bit more complicated, there have been multiple offers. But the ones from Trump that included DACA also had multiple poison pills included. I think my favorite one is the one that wouldn't allow adults to pull their parents in with chain migration.....you know, like EXACTLY what Melania just did with her parents.

Heres a good timeline of events during the period you folks are discussing. You're both kinda right.

Trump absolutely has had the opportunity to get 25 billion. He just has turned down the best deals he could get at the time, and now with the Democrats running the house, he is going to get nothing I suspect.

No, Pelosi knows Individual 1 lied to his base. Now he is trying to lie to America to dig his way out.

A wall is a good idea. It's only dumb people who think the plan is to build a wall and nothing more. The wall will be coupled with enhanced border technology and agents. Statistics show that walls have been effective wherever they have been tried.

Border patrol agents, who actually enforce the border full time, know better than anyone if a wall is needed. And 90% of them say a wall will be an effective and worthwhile tool.

Do you think you know more about border security than border patrol agents?

No, and we won't be trusting just walls to keep illegals out of America. Quit parroting the talking points you just heard and educate yourself. You are way behind on the discussions.
