That is what the Democrats want.

I hadn't heard Pelosi announce a counter offer. I'm surprised Democrats aren't having an issue with that.

The fact that she didn't like the offer, isn't a legitimate reason to not participate in a negotiation.

I do think she should have come to the table and reiterated her stance about permanent citizenship for these folks.

Yeah, definitely. I know she can't say yes to the wall, without something really big in return. A reasonable deal would be path for citizenship, but without the chain migration for the dreamers family members.

Also, I would love to see e verify as part of a deal, but such good ideas aren't allowed in the gov it seems.

Seriously? You haven't been paying attention to the news? Even the MSM admits to there being additional caravans on their way.

Google it.

You were saying?

Will Hurd is also a former CIA agent who worked in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He's no lightweight and he's not an ignorant loudmouth.

He's a rarity these days; a Pub who's had his own skin in the game.

And he's not a supporter of tRump's wall.

Hurd spoke out against President Donald Trump's 2017 executive order to build a wall along the southern border with Mexico, saying it was a "third-century solution to a 21st-century problem" and the "most expensive and least effective way to secure the border." Hurd instead advocated for a "flexible, sector-by-sector approach that empowers Border Patrol agents on the ground with the resources they need."[58] Hurd proposed using "a mix of technology. It's going to be significantly cheaper than building a wall. Let's focus on drug traffickers ... and human smugglers."

Pelosi, of course, is an experienced politician (since the 1990s), and considered a very competent one.

Trump, on the other hand, is totally inexperienced in politics, and, indeed, was not even a good businessman. The only thing he's really good at is the showmanship of low-end, no-brain reality TV.

In fairness to Trump (yes, I just typed that), a degree of showmanship and ability to connect to an audience is a valuable asset to a politician - one that Pelosi completely lacks. She can calculate possible voting blocks standing on her head, she knows what leverage it takes to move what congressmen, you can bet that when she goes into a negotiation she knows where the opposition bodies are buried, complete with six-digit coordinates.

But she can't give a good speech, much less a decent interview, to save her life. <shrug>

The dems have always been easier to bully have less individual thought and move in lock step out of fear, so naturally their leaders would have an easier time keeping control.
