I didn't live in a ghetto...
The ghetto was an hour south. I lived out in the sticks. I lived 20 feet of the shore of a lake. In a house I completely renovated and updated.
I mean. I guess I could have been a lemming and followed along blindly and have been house poor or stuck in a high rent situation... that wasn't my goal.
But... I owned it free and clear. Completely renovated and updated.
Was assessed by the town solely for tax revenue purposes under the guise of demand and new construction adding home value, 315k.
I didn't sell it for that. That would have been a big hit in capital gains and screwed the next person on property taxes.
