In an extraordinary step, the police department’s top spokesman, Anthony Guglielmi, put out a statement on Twitter that said: “Media reports about the Empire incident being a hoax are unconfirmed by case detectives”
He said the police superintendent had contacted one of the stations to “state on the record that we have no evidence to support their reporting and their supposed CPD sources are uninformed and inaccurate.”
Walking around downtown Chicago in -30 degree weather is a terrible idea no matter who you are. Doing it in a MAGA hat is a good way to get your ass kicked repeatedly. This story is so fake, it's mind-blowing.
So it sounds like there's some question about whether it was staged. Regardless of how that ends, this was still not the racist MAGA lynching he claimed it was.
I don't know what time frame this show airs, (time of year), but he was talking about the show non stop (several tweets a day/week...several) from early December 2018 and back. Once you get to late December and before this stunt in January, he didn't talk about it at all, yet they were still filming.
There's nothing on his twitter from Jan 28th on - which doesn't make sense even if he was an alleged victim because he sure had a lot to say at his concert, apparently.
But he just stopped talking about the show in late December after doing it all. the. time. on his twitter for over a year. (Yes, I did go back and read his tweets for that entire period of time when this thread first came out.)
I have been surprised how well CPD handled this case. Props to them for not pushing it under the rug. They let him incriminate himself publicly.
For all their faults, I think cops are at least inclined toward uncovering lies and getting at the truth. They might lie sometimes to protect themselves, but that's the exception not the rule. The mainstream media though is totally corrupted by postmodernism to the point that they don't even believe there is a real truth. Everybody "speaks their truth", and when highly intersectional people like Smollett do so they must be supported. The MSM's basic orientation is toward pushing the narrative, and they will lie any time they think they can accomplish that.

Unclear if the ABC Chicago reporter is backing away from the hoax report..
That's not "walking it back", that's him reporting that Jussie's people are still backing him up. Doesn't mean it's true or not just because they say so. We'll have to see if that "he didn't show up for questions" is true or not.
Nonetheless, if anything, this will teach reporters to better vet their sources so they don't have to keep putting in "updates" that say different than what they just said their "sources close to the investigation" said.
