That's just how it is.
People are already starting on twitter with the "but this is what minorities go through every day, this doesn't change that!" stuff.

Any non-right leaning subs on reddit either aren't talking about this or are barely talking about this or giving it attention now. Funny, because after it happened, the r/news post about it had tens of thousands of upvotes iirc, and people were discussing how horrible Trump and his supporters are for allowing this stuff to happen and egging it on, basically just a bunch of partisan crap, unsurprisingly. Where are they now? Basically silence from mainstream reddit. Hypocrites.

Apparently the one r/news thread about the latest developments was hidden, so doesn't show up on the main page. Do a search, as of now anyone can see there's nothing there from anything less than 12 hours ago, and that one has barely any interaction. Like 103 upvotes. The recent thread on r/lgbt has people denying the legitimacy of the blue check marked local news reporters' twitter feeds, calling them homophobic and right wing. People are in deep denial about what appears to be the truth here, and overall it's just not good. Not good that people won't be able to admit they were wrong, and unable to apologize for their assumptions and anything negative and divisive they said because of this story.

I am not a political person when it comes to this kind of stuff (tend to not see stories like this through an overall political lens but as individual instances even if they involve political claims), and politically am pretty independent and not a Trump supporter overall (though I do support some of his policies for sure), but the political angle taken on this story by many on the left is pretty obvious, and pathetic, has been from the start. Those on the right are using it already and will keep using it to their advantage, but I kind of blame them less than those on the left at this point, for this particular story.

People are sick and tired of these race baiting stunts.

IMO these types of things will solidify a 2020 Trump win.

Poor guy, no one read him the book, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" when he was a kid?

If that's the case than any person who has ever been charged (or is in the future) with filing a false police report should file suit to have their charges expunged and sue for discriminatory treatment by authorities based on this case should they sweep it under the rug.

He made his bed....let him sleep in it and not only get charged by the police but forced to pay for the man hours and investigative costs he wasted on his BS claim.

"At first it was a thing of like, 'Listen, if I tell the truth, then that's it — cause it's the truth,'" he said. "Then it became a thing of like, 'Oh, how can you doubt that? Like how do you not believe that? It's the truth.' Then it became, 'Oh, you don't believe this isn't the truth — you don't even want to see the truth.'
Smollett

It has gone from what actually happened..... to what could have happened...And he is mad we don’t believe him. Lol. ...we don’t want to see the “truth”....maybe because your truth is not the real truth.

Let's not discount the bare possibility that Jussie actually was not in on it. If it was an extra from the show, that would explain how they knew they where he lived and where to send the threat letter and how they recognized him when he stepped out of his apartment. Maybe this extra was jealous of Jussie, maybe Jussie pizzed him off, maybe just plain rubbed him the wrong way, maybe he's just an angry homophobe. It's still a racial hoax in any event, but possibly one in which Jussie was not a willing participant.

I'm still skeptical that Jussie wasn't involved though. The phone record redactions, the perps knew he'd be leaving his apartment at 2am on this particular night, he forgot to mention or notice they might have declared their MAGA allegiance with a foreign accent, etc. Still fishy.

He must've read the lesser known book - "The Boy Who Lied His Azz Off"

Your first paragraph is the biggest stretch that I have seen in a long, long time.
