Exactly. So why did he?

yeah right, and he's on stage a few days later...still swollen

What's he going to say....saw this hot number...followed him into the safe place...where there's no cameras...he tried to get rough...and clocked me when I tried to say no

I don’t even this happened anymore because of the one minute timeline, but it would make sense he solicited a straight man and got clocked, then came up with this story to cover for himself if the straight man wanted to run to the media about the famous guy who asked if he could...

After the story ran and everyone thinks he was the victim of a hate crime, who would call to set the record straight?

Nothing. People get bruises and scratches all the time. It’s not uncommon.

The funny thing is, the people who already know Jussie know that he's gay. IF this were the story, (not saying it is), it would have actually garnered him a whole hell of a lot of sympathy...much more than a story that many (left and right, black and white) are not believing.

dunno...somehow "Smollett gets clocked turning rough tricks at 2 am" just doesn't sound like it would get a lot of sympathy

He's an actor who has to go on camera in a few days. He has minor injuries to his face, and yes he has to explain them.

I am anti-Trump. Check my posting history.

I think this story is made up.

If his injuries were major, he most likely wouldn't be singing and dancing on Saturday night in WeHo. With a minor "injury" (even a scratch to his face), he would likely need to explain how that occurred since his face is his trademark and filming for Empire was to resume.
