We all decided a long time ago that this constitution stuff was the law of the land.

Now people don’t like the electoral college, travel bans, and emergency declaration? Too bad.

Obama had his chance for change, now you’re witnessing real change. No one ever said you had to like the change, but it’s change nonetheless.

when would you declare it an emergency when we get to 30 million illegals in the country?.....the fact is this had to be done in the 80's and every congress and President have ignored the problem.

You say illegal border crossing are down? based on what? the study you are repeating came from the Census Bureau’s annual American Community Survey (ACS) which is an unenforced mandate and the estimates unverifiable. This is from the same crowd that has estimated illegal immigration stuck at 11 million for over 2 decades using the census which is a joke.

it's hard to keep track of illegals because they are not in the system and they use different aliases and fake names and move around constantly but most do 1 thing for sure, they wired most of their illegal earnings back to Mexico and other countries because the U.S. dollars multiplies in their countries.
Migrants from Latin America and the Caribbean are sending more money to their families back home than ever before. These annual "remittances" — as they're called by analysts — topped $69 billion in 2016, according to central bank data and it went up in 2017 but according to the ACS, illegal immigration is down? LOL

so when the corporate media spreads that illegal immigration is down they don't say that the method they use is the Census Bureau's Annual American Community Survey (ACS) and that is a joke to estimate illegals in the country.......it's an unenforced mandate and the estimates unverifiable but they keep repeating it and people like you believe it and repeat it as fact.

When we have over 20 million illegals in this country that we don't know who they are and where they at then, that's a security crisis.

No, I did not like a lot of Obama's national emergencies regarding foreign policy. I know you weren't asking me, but just thought I'd let you know.

This has been pointed out to you and your ilk numerous times. Yet you still spew nonsense about the BP not wanting barriers.

Enough already

Why do people insist on saying this? ALL of the emergencies in the Obama administration were about enforcing embargoes. NOT ONE was an emergency because Obama disagreed with spending by Congress. NOT ONE was an end run around the Congress' power of the purse. I think FOX must be feeding this to people, because so many are repeating it. But there is no equivalency here. If you don't believe me, this is easy to Google.

From seizing control of the internet to declaring martial law, to freezing the assets of American citizens, President Trump can wield enormous power under the guise of a national emergency.

Congress saw fit to grant these powers to a sitting President, signed into law by Ford in 1976. Of course when they did that they were naive enough to believe that we'd always have a rational, responsible leader at the helm.

Apparently they never thought about the fact that this loophole could be a dream come true for a President with fascist leanings like Trump.

Mark my words, this won't stop with this first Emergency declaration to go around Congress to get his way. He has a taste for it now.

great post !

This is a dictator with no stops except the courts

Even those insane persons in charge (ex--king george,hitler,stalin,castro,duerte,kim,vlad-current love interests)had their supporters.

Those of us that believe in a democracy will be subjected to the current forces of those that do not!

Apparently the thirst for money, power , corruption of the repugnant majority will prevail .

MAGA (MAKE AMERICANS GROVEL ALWAYS)

Drumfs real slogan😟😔😞😈

Eh, Congress passed it in 1976.

The National Emergencies Act (NEA) (Pub.L. 94–412, 90 Stat. 1255, enacted September 14, 1976, codified at 50 U.S.C. § 1601–1651) is a United States federal law passed to end all previous national emergencies and to formalize the emergency powers of the President. The perceived need for the law arose from the scope and number of laws granting special powers to the executive in times of national emergency. Congress can undo an emergency declaration with either a joint resolution and the President's signature, or with a veto-proof (two-thirds) majority vote. Powers available under this Act are limited to the 136 emergency powers Congress has defined by law.

Quote:
Congress has delegated at least 136 distinct statutory emergency powers to the President upon the declaration of an emergency. Only 13 require a declaration from Congress; the remaining 123 are invoked by an executive declaration with no Congressional input.

I'm thinking if Congress didn't sweat the other 110 (123-13) that gives the President his authority without their declaration for 40 plus years, tough *******. Maybe if they actually did their job (both Democrats and Republicans), they wouldn't whine so much.
