I think anyone working full-time should be able to enjoy a humble, but decent quality of life, including burger flippers and people like that. The whole job Darwinism has to go. A funny word for that would be jobbery (job+snobbery) ^^
The problem with paying burger flippers a "living wage" is that means that the price of the burger has to be high enough to sustain it.
I am a strong believer that unless you are physically or mentally challenged there is no reason to be truly poor. So instead of everyone wanting to give the poor everything like free this and that do something to encourage them to work for what they need and want. The world is not equal and was never met to be. I know, we are middle class, could be better off than we are if we had planned better and i do not resent anyone, anymore of better means has. There will always be some, by no fault of their own that do need government assistance. My heart goes out to some of them, but not to those who are looking for a hand out and many are.. Nothing can stop any of us from getting an education, finding work in this good economy and do a job one can be proud of. Some day care assistance is fine, free day care, NOPE!!

Back in the 1960's CEO compensation to average worker compensation was around 20 to 1, now its over 300. Seems like those corporate board could spread that compensation around more fairly.
Then there are the lobbies by the .1% they even have accounting offices staffed just to decide how they can get more favorable tax treatment.

It's a lifetime of hardship and struggle.

If you pay for something, chances are you'll get more of it.
If you "pay" for poverty in the form of welfare, you certainly get more of it, and we do, but shouldn't.

Your estimation of what constitutes "fairly" is pointless. Boards pay what they have to for the talent they need, at current prices. The ratio you cite is irrelevant.
Funny how the same side that's pro-union is also pro-illegal immigration that is replacing it.
