What a way to weed out the people you hate from society than stacking the healthcare system against them.

Absolutely despicable and frightening times we are living through in this country. Despicable beyond words.
Wait until the next recession hits and more people lose their jobs and their health insurance. Just at the time automation really gears up and those jobs or insurance won't be coming back.

Prior to the ACA, I paid slightly over $400 a month for a good plan, including a full array of specialists, with a $2,000 deductible. Now, four years later, I pay more than $800 a month, for a choice of two insurance companies (neither of which has the specialist I need), with a $6,000 deductible. It is much worse, and much more expensive.

You can't look to a small country like Switzerland as a model for insurance. We have about 40% of citizens on some sort of government assistance, and millions of illegal aliens giving birth to new citizens who will also need public assistance. We simply can't afford to provide insurance for 100 million people who do not pay into the system.
Actually my experience with pre-existing conditions comes from good friends who didn't have insurance before and they do now.

And my experience with my premium cost and deductibles wasn't the same as yours. There are lots of us that didn't see those big bumps.

And I've never had any choice with insurance. You take what the company gives you...and you go where the insurance tells you to go...you switch doctors when they tell you to switch.

Why is there such a difference in experiences.

Good luck to those in the U.S. They'll need it.

There are a lot of ways people can become infirm and dependent that do not involve poor lifestyle choices. Often it happens to a loved one (a child or parent perhaps, little sister or brother) and it can bankrupt the entire family.

It's fruitless with Republicans. A trait most of them lack is empathy - they just don't think that way and cannot relate until it hits them directly.

All they think about is themselves. That's it. As long as I'm good screw everyone else. I just don't give a crap.

Once it hits them they do start crying for needing help and where is the government?

That’s right, Mr. President, end the ACA without any clue how to replace it. Brilliant.

There Unaffordable care act is one of the worst pieces of legislation ever to come out of DC. Talk about misnamed and having the opposite effect.

True that. And the ones who of course benefit from ACA are too stupid to realize it.

It's like blaming the person your partner had an affair with, instead of blaming your partner, who had an obligation to be faithful to you.

Insurance companies raised their rates because they are in business to make as much money as they possibly can so their executives can make as much money as they possibly can. All the ACA did was require insurance companies to provide actual coverage, instead of selling you a junk policy that does nothing but line their pockets.
Because ultimately, the way Obama allowed the insurance companies to rob us blind as part of Obamacare IS his fault. He just didn't care about how the middle earners would be impacted (and the rich can pay whatever) as long as the low-income got free or highly subsidized plans.

Here's an example: Before Trump, Obama had allowed the insurance companies to have a "gag clause" in their contracts with pharmacies by which pharmacies were NOT allowed to tell you of cheaper options for drugs, even when you asked. Pharmacies were FORCED by insurers to require you to claim against your prescription coverage.

Let that sink in. Why would your insurer care if you went another route for your drugs and didn't make them pay at least some of the cost? The only explanation is that insurance companies were making money every time you filled a prescription!

Enter....Trump. He made the "gag clause" illegal so that when a customer asks if they can save money by going through a different route, the pharmacy is allowed to tell them. My drug that was costing me $525 (yes....that's after insurance) under Obamacare during Obama days has dropped to $215 now that the gag was removed. What does that tell me? That the insurance company was gouging me, and Obama was permitting it.
