Usually I simply show respect toward other humans unless they've given me a good reason not to. Attire doesn't enter into the equation as to whether I will respect another person.

But can they reasonably be regarded as immodest and as possibly helping to promote a view of women as a body and not as a person, as many feminists might in other circumstances insist is important for women?

Maryann White seems to think so:

It seems to me that these are kind of trashy looking. Of course if you are an student of anatomy and are interested in examining the women wearing these garments from that perspective, perhaps that makes some sort of sense.

Is the word "modesty" now rejected and despised by the purveyors of the Democrat left "Political correctness" mandatory thought and speech codes? They can take those and stick them, well, you know where, at least as far as I am concerned. If the very suggestion that some modicum of modesty is desirable is considered objectionable by these people, that is really a sad and undesirable state of affairs.

Women, you do better than this. Can't you?
What, now Christians are going to do this crap in 2019? Didn't learn your lesson yet? How about a Burka for those girls? Headscarf? I mean if modesty is required to praise your God why not just create a uniform they approve of and call it a day? That's what Muslims do.

I don't think it's that hard for guys to resist the temptation of leggings. If it is for GOD SAKE don't let them near a public swimming pool or the beach.

Why not just go full hijab and burka?

Requiring/Encouraging modest dress for women seems like a step down the path to Sharia Law, is that really a good idea?

IMO, women should be allowed to wear whatever they feel comfortable wearing. If they feel comfortable it is really nobody else's business.
Such all or nothing binary thinking adds nothing to the discussion. There is something in between no standards of decency and ISIS level standards of decency. You do have the intelligence to realize we're residing somewhere in the middle here right?

My kids wear leggings, nothing that showy about them, but they are not lululemon, even my sister has commented they are modest. While she did complained about my nieces and their clothings. Too showy because they like to wear sexy revealing clothes, they doctor/doctor to be, so no bimbos either.

Leggings are one of man's greatest inventions. Women might say they wear them for comfort reasons, but we all know the truth.

I'm happily married, but if an attractive woman is wearing leggings, it's next to impossible not to take a discrete quick glance.

Reasonably in shape women look good in leggings, which is why they are so popular. Women should admit they are wearing them outside of the house to flaunt and look good and not give dudes a hard time for noticing.

So if someone is accusing of being boorish, then you're doing more than looking at someone from behind. Either you're staring in a lecherous way where they or others are noticing or you are, in fact, making comments or acting in a rude way. Try wearing sunglasses; you can then ogle all of the body parts you want and nobody will notice.
No problems here. I've mastered the art of getting a good look without crossing the line, and I have a nice pair of mirrored shades for the beach.

Someone somewhere is mad about someone looking at someone's butt though or you'd never see discussions like this one to begin with.
