There are like a dozen corporations doing GMO corn and soybeans... the "Anti" crowd would be a lot less annoying if they just admit they are anti-Monsanto!

What might be even more devastating to our health is the genetically modified corn and soybeans they throw at us.

'The first commercial GM (genetically modified) corn varieties, usually known as Bt corn, were released by a few companies in the mid-1990s, but soon one company, Monsanto, became the industry leader with its Roundup Ready corn.

GM corn use has steadily increased in the U.S., with about 80% of the corn acreage now growing it.

Half the world rejected GMOs, but not the United States. Politicos with no knowledge of the subject endorsed the process.

An especially frightening side-effect of GM crops is that laboratory tests feeding them to animals (rodents) and livestock have found serious health problems, including crippled immune systems, pre-cancerous cell growth, liver damage, abnormal development of certain body organs, sterility, and premature death.

Yet it is apparently OK for humans to eat such food, since already, without adequate testing, GM corn (and other crops) are consumed by nearly everyone on earth.

Because of these concerns, dozens of other countries either reject GM crops entirely or are very cautiously investigating them. This makes it very difficult for the U.S. to export farm commodities, resulting in millions of dollars of lost sales.

I would bet GMOs have helped provide more food for the world and saved more lives than any negative.
I have to admit the name Round Up ready corn kindof bothers me.

GMO's are a good thing. At least that is what the scientific community says. The same scientific community that warns of climate change. Either you are going to believe science or you are not. You can't pick and choose what to believe based on your politics.

I like Neil Degrasse Tyson. Much smarter on science than anyone posting here. You should read what he says:

https://www.iflscience.com/health-an...-gmo-argument/

There is scientific consensus on GMO's being safe:

https://www.skepticalraptor.com/skep...fic-consensus/

What is sad is those who deny GMO's are safe will cause millions if not billions of human deaths. Just because they hate Monsanto.

Sad really.

very much so. I've long asked why they only howl about monsanto when there are so many other companies doing the same thing...

We see it over and over. It's for the same reason many are anti-Walmart and so gung ho on Target, when Walmart pays more than Target.

These people do this because they are brainwashed and will protest or think what they're told to think without applying any critical thinking skills.

Why not be concerned about-

Having a piece of paper from the government, doesn't make a better mother.

Why not be concerned about-

pesticides in the water

depletion of the nation's aquafers

dead zones in the Gulf and oceans

plastics dumped in the oceans by third world nations

acid rain from high sulpher fuels from third world nations

urban sprawl and elimination of farmland and forests

depletion of the rain forests (much due to raising "alternative fuels")

decline of family units

assault on Christianity

mass migration of illegal immigrants

loss of decent paying jobs due to poor trade policies

decline in the quality of US education

high incidence of children born to unwed mothers

It's a legitimate issue which deserves discussion. You do realize that most of the issues mentioned above are exacerbated by the republicans?

I would have to look into it more, but I don't think this is what we are talking about. OF COURSE, people have always tried to improve the seeds, hybridizing (cross breeding) plants to make them better. But what Monsanto has done is something else. They insert genes to get a bigger production of a fruit or a vegetable. Then articles come out to brainwash the public--when no one really knows how safe this is yet.

It's not the same as for example, the way corn has been changed over hundreds and hundreds of years by the Native Americans, breeding it to be as large as it is now when it started out as a little tiny cob about an inch long. That's an actual improvement that's been good for the human race. Monsanto is doing something else.

I don't think that genetically modified foods have much of an effect. What bothers me is that Monsanto seeds are designed to produce one and one crop only. Harvesting what you think is seed corn from a Monsanto crop is a waste of time. In an emergency, you will eat well this year but die of starvation next year and so will your farm animals.

Genetically modified seeds yield one generation of fruit then they die off. Buy non GMO seeds only.

Comparing herbicide to GMO corn. Well that's a strong relationship.

Hey be careful when you go anywhere this weekend, don't drive off the edge of the earth.
