A Federal judge just blocked the Mississippi heartbeat bill saying:
"By banning abortions after the detection of a fetal heartbeat, SB 226 prevents a woman’s free choice, which is central to personal dignity and autonomy,” he continued.
50% of abortions are due to birth control failure. Those women were being responsible. The most effective form is vasectomy. Why don’t we mandate all men of fertile age get one? If the goal is to prevent abortion and that’s the best way to prevent pregnancy, why not?
would you provide a source for "50% of abortions are due to birth control failure" assertion? I would like to read it.
this is an older 2013 study about the reasons women seek abortion:
Women’s reasons for seeking an abortion fell into 11 broad themes. The predominant themes identified as reasons for seeking abortion included financial reasons (40%), timing (36%), partner related reasons (31%), and the need to focus on other children (29%). Most women reported multiple reasons for seeking an abortion crossing over several themes (64%).
Yes, that's my quibble. The Left charges conservatives with trying to ban abortion when no such thing is happening. Up until this last month or so, I can't say as I much cared about the issue one way or the other, but I have recently converted.
There are so many ways for women to act responsibly either before sex or even right after unprotected sex, that I have decided to hold them - the women - accountable.
Prevent abortions! ........ Don't get pregnant.
But in the event there is a misjudgment or crime there is always time during the next 5 days to prevent the unthinkable.
Where are the men in this equation?
Plenty of them are having unprotected sex and WANT abortions for the women they inadvertently impregnate.

I think this was expected and the actual goal, they are shooting for the moon with these new regulations. Personally I find them ridiculous, no woman should ever be forced to carry the child of a rapist. I believe the goal here is to get it to the Supreme Court with the intention of getting RoeVWade amended.

Please explain why aborting "the child of a rapist" is ok when other abortions (first trimester) are not? Are "children" of rapists not a life too?
Or is it because the women raped are not guilty of anything so no need to punish them by forcing an unwanted pregnancy be carried to term?

Calilfornia has over 1.6 million children living in poverty, by far the largest amount of children living in poverty in any state in the country. where is your sanctimonious concern for your own backyard?

Look I'm neither pro abortion or pro life. For normal pregnancies I think everyone can agree that at some point between conception and birth we have a moral obligation to protect the life of the unborn. The question most people struggle with is when that time is. Someone that argues against something like the morning after pill is being ridiculous, equally ridiculous is advocating for abortion for fully formed baby that is perfectly capable of functioning by itself outside of the womb.
There are exceptions such as the life of the mother is at risk and in my opinion a pregnancy that was the result of rape falls into the same category.
Well, what we do is to get as many people health care as possible under Covered California.
Your home state of Texas has the highest rate of uninsured folks. And ya'll have a higher infant mortality rate, too.
Maybe you should kindly take your own advice.
you changed the subject to health care. m-kay. Not going to engage further with you on this subject.
I'd hate to be married or involved with anyone who won't stay on the subject of contention. changing the subject is not an effective way to debate or discuss a topic.
