Yes, antifa is like a few hundred people in a few college towns. Far Right wing nut jobs number in the hundreds of thousands and think Antifa is around every corner waiting to turn their kids gay and crucify them for making a racist joke. There's a serious question of scale here and right wing extremists on the internet are fighting a battle against a perceived enemy that barely exists and who they most likely have never even remotely encountered....because they are paranoid nut cases.
Do consider that while smaller in number, current social permissiveness does amplify their effect. If a group of White Supremacists started to riot in the streets of Berkeley because they wanted to prevent a black guest speaker from having a forum, the likelihood of the school administration, local politicians, and the local constabulary standing by is not very high.

The way I see it, life in prison is mercy enough. And yes, antifa could have killed him. It's hard for me to muster any pity for that man. As someone who has had the experience of some people being racist towards me, I don't feel much pity for him. He knew what he was doing. He had evil and bigotry and his heart. Why do people brag about violence and then talk about how violent the other guys is, or taunt if the other guy is not violent enough?
