You are right which is why a gun is the best weapon for protection. Nothing like a gun to equalize a 5" 98 lb woman against a crazy 6' 200 lb ex or stalker coming at her with his fists, or a bat.

NO MATTER what the gun ban people parrot in terms of contrived statistics or buzz terms there is one thing they cannot refute and that is " when seconds count the cops are only minutes away".

There is no way to keep criminals from getting guns. (And, if we could, they would be in jail for using knives, bats, clubs, rocks or whatever else they could get their hands on to maim, or kill, someone else)
How many made their own?

The Supreme Court has ruled... Police are not obligated to protect you, or your property.
The Constitution has protected your duty to do so, by any means possible.

Getting shot is no guarantee you are going to die. That's only on TV and video games.

Plug where criminals get guns? Did you really just type that?

The easiest way to stop armed criminals is with a well armed citizenry. That "plugs" it right up.
Let`s arm the school children, churchgoers, concert goers, etc. The gun manufacturers love that kind of talk and that`s why they give millions to the gun/criminal lobby that trains their parrots to repeat the same nonsense decade after decade. Do they ever stop trying to sell more guns?

Criminal lobby. That's a new one.

Add that to assault weapon, 500 rounds a second, clips, shoulder thingy that goes up, heat seeking bullets.

Yes, I missed that part and it directly contradicts the data:

https://www.nij.gov/topics/crime/gun...s/welcome.aspx

In 2011, data collected by the FBI show that firearms were used in 68 percent of murders, 41 percent of robbery offenses and 21 percent of aggravated assaults nationwide.[2]

Most homicides in the United States are committed with firearms, especially handguns.[3]

Homicides committed with firearms peaked in 1993 at 17,075, after which the figure steadily fell, reaching a low of 10,117 in 1999. Gun-related homicides increased slightly after that, to a high of 11,547 in 2006, before falling again to 10,869 in 2008.[4]
Funny that homicides with firearms plummeted under Bill Clinton's term, the exact opposite of what gun control advocates predicted with the assault weapons ban. You know, the old "now only criminals will have guns and all good people will get murdered" argument?

I don't even support most gun control legislation, and I don't think Bill Clinton was the reason for the sudden dive in firearm homicides, but facts sure don't support the idea of modest gun restrictions leading to a sudden spike in murders either.

And no gun control has been passed in the last several years, but firearm homicides are spiking anyway:

Quote:
https://www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...-finds-n895366

The number of homicides committed using guns has gone up by nearly a third nationwide in recent years, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC found a 31 percent increase in homicides involving firearms from 2014 to 2016. In 2014, 11,008 homicides involved a gun. The number rose to 14,415 by 2016, the CDC team said.

Guns were by far the most common weapon used in homicides, the CDC team found.
The only things I support are simple requirements, somewhat like Canada has had in place for almost 100 years. I don't support assault weapon bans, high capacity magazine bans, or for that case any bans. Only that the more powerful and capable the weapon, you have to display some basic mental competency and potentially pass training courses before getting it.

If liberals actually cared about “gun violence” they would be calling for stronger penalties against gun offenders. Not targeting legal lawful gun owners. But they aren’t, they are loosening the penalties in places like Chicago.

No its with firearms.

From the FBI website citing homicide statistics

In 2017 there was 15,129 homicides throughout America. Murders via firearm accounts for 10,982 of the total 15,129. So roughly 73% of all homicides are with firearms. All other forms of homicide fall into the remaining 27%.

Legal gun owners are where most of the criminals are getting their guns from. From the link in the original post.

Quote:
An estimated 287,400 prisoners had possessed a
frearm during their ofense. Among these, more than
half (56%) had either stolen it (6%), found it at the
scene of the crime (7%), or obtained it of the street
or from the underground market (43%). Most of
the remainder (25%) had obtained it from a family
member or friend, or as a gif.
Where are they stealing these guns from? Legal gun owners. Who are giving them guns as gifts? Legal gun owners. Almost every gun used in a crime in this country, started off being purchased legally and in one way or another ends up in the hands of criminals.
