Advertisements

I watched the Sunday morning program on CBS, and they had a segment that was about teachers that want higher pay, smaller classrooms, etc, but everytime there is a vote on it, most voters vote no because it will mean a raise in their taxes. Well, in this day and age where companies are making billions in revenue due to paid advertisement, why can't we let the public school systems do this? Would there be any harm if clothing brand, a store brand, electronics or car company pay to advertise in schools, or let them sponsor teachers so they can get their much needed raises without it being a burden on tax payers?

^^ slash administration. Pay the teachers. Stop crying there’s no money. It’s there, just poorly utilized.

The starting pay in the suburbs around Houston for starting teachers with no experience is in the mid 50's. They have lots of time off and nearly three months in the summer in which they can earn extra income.

Honestly, I don't see any problem with that.

A household with two teachers just starting off would have a household income of around $110,000 without any side jobs.

Any teacher alive can grant themselves an instant pay raise... stop paying union dues.

Corporate advertising in the classroom could be construed as brainwashing/indoctrination.

Nobody has ever been brainwashed/indoctrinated inside of a government school before.

That ^. Agree 100%!!! Public school systems are WAY too top heavy, and all that admin literally adds NOTHING to even acceptable educational results.

If you want to see how many 12th graders are at least proficient in each academic subject, look at the Nation's Report Card. You can choose public or private, or both, etc. to see exactly what's going on in US K-12:

And yet, they can not get enough teachers to fill their classrooms.
