This is another one. Only this time, he tried to strong arm anther nation into backing his play.
Joe Biden was the front man for a more powerful country intervening to force the firing of the Prosecutor General. Then he was arrogant and bragged about it. He made Ukraine look like a "banana republic."
If only because of that, there are some Ukrainians who might be more than willing to do Trump's backing if it results in a Biden-payback.
Then pair that with a President whose first obligation is to the welfare of Ukraine with its need for U.S. dollars at a time when there are sensitive ongoing negotiations with the Russians over Ukrainian territory.
With none of these players subject to U.S. laws (perjury etc. evidentiary standards).
This comes pretty close to doing what Schiff first charged: asking the Ukrainians to manufacture dirt.
Not that Trump would ever have used those words.
But it's a major reason why you don't ask favors like this of a foreign country.

As much as I appreciate the continued enthusiasm of our R/R colleagues, I've begun to wonder where they are getting their material these days.
The Mueller report documented at least a dozen instances of obstruction of justice.
Currently, Trump is intimidating witnesses and threatening a member of Congress.
If that was true, and it's not, then that would have been the excuse for impeachment and not some random conversation with a foreign head of state where no crime was committed because if true that would be much better grounds to do so.
As it stands, that's little more than fantasy nonsense that our friends on the left keep telling themselves to hide their embarrassment over all of the ridiculous things they said leading up to the Mueller nothingburger.
Even then though, Democrats set a precedent in the Bill Clinton impeachment that obstruction of justice isn't an impeachable offense... otherwise he'd have been removed from office.
