I say do it... assuming that moderators have the bandwidth to manage it. Have to believe it will be a lot of work sorting out the "real" Liberals from the Conservatives.
I don't think it will be all that difficult.....we already know where we all stand based on a bunch of easily verified posts. The only issue would be with a brand new member, and it would become quickly apparent whether they were being disingenuous....
I say do it... assuming that moderators have the bandwidth to manage it. Have to believe it will be a lot of work sorting out the "real" Liberals from the Conservatives. Neither may be an alternative for those that toggle between the two designations depending on the candidate or the election. So those folks are going to be forced to choose, or to stick with the current P&OC.
I don't think it would be much of a problem. The issue would not be determining whether any given poster is a "real" D or R - although that would certainly become clear, if it isn't already. The issue would be determining whether a given post is in the spirit of constructive debate vs. trolling or stirring the pot or existing merely to say something nasty about other people or groups.
It's kinda sad the P&OC general forum is not moderated to those standards, but oh well.
I'm thinking about adding these subforums. They would still be public but only party's supporters would be allowed to comment. Any comments or suggestions?
Bad idea.
The forums will just be used as a tool to spread fake news unchecked. Especially the Republican one. It may as well just be labeled the Fox News forum.
It's much better for fake news to be posted here where liberals can challenge it with facts.
Ironically, those of us who posted stating there's a problem with moderation and disappearing posts and threads - which the Administrator denied - have had our posts deleted.
No, I urge you not to have one-party forums. There is already enough division, and to divide forum even more would just create two echo chambers and lead to each having more extreme biased views.
But there is a separate issue of what seems to be bias with some of the moderators. Mods seem to be much more lenient with pro-Trump posts, many with posting information known to be false, many posting wild rumors, like falsely announcing that someone is about to be arrested, which never happens. Anti-Trump posts seem more likely to disappear or be closed down.
Maybe there should be one right-ish mod and one left-ish mod, with a requirement that they agree on deletions, or maybe there should be a ban on wild rumors for people who do it repeatedly.
