Have you seen their politics or The_Donald subreddits? Banning and downvoting opposing views, one sentence low-effort posts that don't get challenged if they go with the majority view... Reddit is a different concept anyway - the threads disappear in a day and early posts get a big preference and the order is vote-based. No use commenting if you haven't done it quickly.

1. You are wrong. this phrasing comes from assuming people like myself are independents because my state doesnt allow party registration. In truth, Dems and Republicans are both larger than independents in most states that have voter registration, the same would likely be true in the 20 or so states that dont have party affiliation .
Here is an idea: If you really care about what the people you are asking think in regards to this idea, make a poll in this thread and use it as a vote.
Poll: Do you support adding party specific sub-forms to the politics forum?

On the other hand, I agree with Republicans on some issues, such as illegals. Do I post in Republican forums if there's a thread on that? And if I then disagree with someone on some point, is that viewed by the mods as trolling?
It might be a little confusing for moderators when it comes to moderates who aren't 100% in favor of everything their party is doing.
A few suggestions that I think would make for a better, fairer forum.
Only allow threads that start with an actual news story in the OP. There are far too many posters that start thread after thread based on whatever happens to be floating through their mind at the time. And of course it is almost always without evidence or basis (and it's purpose is usually just to insult someone or something).
Less 'merging of threads' unless the subject matter is identical.
Often new news stories get merged into existing threads of an old version of a story with a completely different angle and the new news just gets lost within it. It can be infuriating and often feels like the new news story is being deliberately buried. It has the affect of feeling partisan.
As another poster said, less deleting of posts that do not violate the TOS.
(Or revise the TOS to fit better with P and OC)
It would be interesting if not for the metrics alone.
It is well known that CD favors republicans and topics on the right.
Do you want to see the complaints we get from Republicans/conservatives? In reality, you'd be surprised how few posts are ever deleted and the moderators do a great job of not deleting anything because they disagree politically.
