I agree that weed is far down on their list of top issues. However, they are still against it and Republican Senators and governors don't want to have to answer to their base for why they voted for the devil's lettuce to be legalized so they will always vote against it.

Why is Marijuana still banned by the Feds?

Good question. Why was it EVER banned by the Feds?

The Constitution gives the Fed govt NO authority to regulate substances like MJ. That means it's forbidden for the Feds to do it, though the states still can if they want to.

No one has ever gotten a case to the Supreme Court, complaining that the Fed is regulating MJ without authority to do so. Closest they've ever gotten is Gonzales v. Raich, where the Supremes decided that the MJ grown by some guy was covered by the language of the Federal law... but they didn't address the issue of whether the law itself was legal.

The Supremes have never decided whether the law itself is legal under the Constitution.

If the Fed govt knows what's good for it, they would quietly repeal the Federal MJ laws... before some lawsuit does get to the Supremes and they decide that the Fed can't regulate things without explicit authorization from the Constitution.

Not only marijuana... do you have any idea how many things the Fed is regulating, without Constitutional authority?

The Const was designed to keep the Fed govt small, by saying the Fed can only do things that are in the Const. The big-govt pushers have been ignoring that command for a century or more.

Guess what happens if the Supreme Court decides that the Fed govt can't regulate marijuana because there's no authority in the Const to regulate substances? The next day, someone else will file a suit saying the Fed also can't regulate workplace conditions, for the same reason. And then another suit over Fed regulation of civilian health care plans. And Fed regulation of light bulbs. And Fed regulation of environmental things like pollution.

Only takes one brick out of the wall of unauthorized Federal regulation, and the whole thing will come crashing down.

The Fed govt is well advised to repeal the Federal MJ laws quickly, so the courts will say the MJ lawsuits are now moot, and dismiss them without having to rule on whether the Fed laws are unconstitutional.

POT was made illegal because musicians used it and they claimed it made black men want to have sex with white women. It was racist.

Another reason it was made illegal was to take out the hemp business, which was a threat to paper and cotton, but yes, those racist arguments were how they convinced the public.

The racist drug czar Harry Anslinger was the corrupt stooge who gave us this absurd argument.

People in power always assume that they know what's best for Joe Public. Instead of letting each person decide for themselves on what to do or take.

And also a huge factor... follow the money. Money sways people in voting and anything to suit their agenda.

Politicians aren't for us. They're for themselves and lining their own pockets and giving sway to other rich elites.

Also a fun fact: it's safer than water and peanut butter. Water drowns you and well we all know about the nut allergies!

Always enjoy reading posts that are spot on. Dean understands!!! Lots of money to be made when the prisons are filled full of prisoners. Definite cash cow for the elite.

It's always FOLLOW THE MONEY. Same reason why we don't have roads full of electric cars. The House of Saad is the tip top of the pyramid. Do you think they want to lose oil money? Nope!

That is fine, but why blame the GOP when it is clear many non-GOP has their entire history advocating against it, and even currently advocate against it like Biden for example?

To paraphrase; "Oh, you mean the thing you just started doing recently, and are now judging me for not doing currently?"

I swear it's like talking to a brick wall with these people. The fact they always respond with "why didn't Obama legalize it when he had the chance" like it's some kind of gotcha while being fully in support of it remaining illegal today is NPC behavior.

Are these people in positions of power just straight up dumb-****s?
It’s not harmless.

Quit deluding yourself.
