Great stuff..... “if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets… Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets.
Never forget the reasons we are in Middle East, it's all about the oil. If we pulled out, it would be Iran vs Saudi Arabia, and Iran would probably win. Iran does not have that much oil, but Iraq has almost as much oil as Saudi Arabia. This is why Iran is making moves in Iraq, they want to invade and grab Iraq's oil, and gain more power. The goal of course would be to gain control of half the world supply of oil, where they can then dictate the price of oil by turning off the faucet for a few months and watch the Western nations struggle, as the price of fuel triples. The US would have to nationalize America's oil supply and take it off the world market, to retain the low prices we have become accustomed to in America.
Whether or not that happens, the petrodollar system is disrupted, economies of the West are crippled, the new oil fuhrer of the Middle East might cut China a deal and continue selling them oil at reduced rates, for military assistance or just to make them stronger, and the US weaker. The Russians will make out like fat cats, as they have plenty of oil to export. Japan would get kicked in the grave. Venezuela would be very happy.
We can't let that happen, and that's why we are in the Middle East. This is how the military pays for itself, and how our massive budget deficits are possible, and why dollars are the world's reserve currency, it's a privilege which has it perks, but it requires military intervention in key countries to keep the system stable.
So with Iran, those Cleric SOB's have been a pain in the ass since 1979 when they took our embassy staff hostage and grabbed power. I do wonder what the Iranian people would do, after 40 years of living under the clerics, if they were removed from power. Would the people of Iran want to westernize? Really, what if they could have a second chance for one more free election, like the one in 1980 when they unwisely chose Khomeini. Since we don't know the answer to that question, a full scale occupation of Iran would be too risky, but we can go tit for tat with them for a while and see what they want to do. We can target the cleric leaders in Tehran, we can knock out key military targets, but I think we should use caution in how we treat the civilian population, because we might want to roll out the carpet for the Shah's son, whom lives in NYC, to be presented to the Iranian people and sell democracy to them. He would be a much better salesman than anybody.
We only know what has been reported in the news which isn't much. I'm not at all crazy about Trump but we don't have access to the same information he does. If he prevented thousands of Americans from being killed like happened in 9/11 then thats one thing. But if he did this for any other reason
The guy killed hundreds of US soldiers... You need more reason? Seriously?
I think Trump is being swift and decisive, but the middle east is a tricky game, as past administrations have learned.
What concerns me about Iran are their nuclear capabilities--do they have them?
An evil regime, and a dangerous one, Iran will most likely retaliate by striking one of the US's sites in the middle east.
But if they do, all hell will be unleashed on them, and I hope it's enough to cripple them so they can't launch a nuclear attack on neighboring countries, IF they have them.
The guy killed hundreds of US soldiers... You need more reason? Seriously?
If that is the reason why Trump killed him, then why didn't he come out and say that in 2016 when he was running, that he was going to punish Iran for killing US soldiers, rather than telling everyone who would listen that he won't escalate things in the Middle East like Obama did?
That statement sounds like a child playing a board game, not a president.
52 sites for the 52 hostages is kind of...............interesting.
