His oath had to do with justice. Justice demands that the Senators vote to acquit when Trump's alleged conduct was so absurdly minor compared to all the wrongdoing the Democrats have committed against him and the American people he represents.

Uh, yeah, they do. Hell, most liberals support almost all of Trump's policies.

A verdict stands on the evidence. Not "compared to all the wrongdoing...".

Justice demands that the Senators vote based on the evidence. Not on partisanship. Not because they are afraid of what will happen. Based on the evidence.

I can't believe an elected official voting his CONSCIENCE has caused this much of a stir, honestly. That's a sad indicator of what we've come to expect from our government.

Deviation from party lines will be punished.

The Republican party is all in on Donald Trump, in a way they never were for the Bushes or any of their previous candidates. It's pretty odd. It'll be interesting to see how history books cover this presidency.

So your version of America is not one where someone is allowed to speak out against the man at the top?

I find it interesting how many people who speak of loving America feel that only those who swear fealty to Trump are worthy. Anyone who does not should be squashed like a bug.

History is littered with examples of leaders who have exerted this kind of a hold on a population. And thankfully, none of them have lasted. Hopefully this Trump fever will at some point break and we can put this behind us.

I voted for Mitt Romney for President in 2012 and would do so again in a second vs Donald Trump. It would be nice if those Republicans who actually feel the way Romney does would stand up and be counted, instead of cowering in the corner.

I never dreamed that America would come to this point.

Ummmm.....so from what I've been told TDS is what they call it when people on the left are overly triggered by Trump.

What do you call it when someone on the Right is overly enamored with him?

Benedict Arnold turned on his country. Romney voted in a constitutional process because he thought he was doing the right thing for his country. Whether you agree with that or not is insignificant. The fact is that OP just revealed that the party is as important (or perhaps moreso) than the country in their eyes.
