This is hitting all sectors...

That Freelance Job-Killing Law Is So Bad That the California Legislature May Dump It Next Week

Everyone, Democrats included, scorn this law that would deprive them of the flexibility of working when they want, for whom they want – themselves. And they're as mad as hornets that someone would presume to tell them how to schedule their time.

...
Performers are angry:

Court interpreters are hopping mad:

Certified health care interpreters are going to state lawmakers asking, hat in hand, for an exemption because it will kill their businesses:

Truckers are angry:

Musicians and composers are singing the blues:

Some people are moving out:

A Republican (who knew they existed in CA ) has introduced AB1928 to nuke AB5.

As Kiley explains:

If this [AB 1928] passes, the Democrats will have to re-do the legislation or put it on hold until all those who lose their income and the communities that need and want their services can find a legitimate avenue. In reality, this was written by the unions, for the unions and meant to force workers to pay bribes (dues) if they wanted to work.

I urge you to contact your Assembly member—even the Democrats, asking them to vote YES on suspension. This is very important.

Dumbest argument ever. I've been an IC for many years, even when I lived in the state of CA. I make way more money as an IC than an employee. NO ONE 'took advantage' of me.

This had nothing to do with 'protecting' anyone, and had everything to do with lining their pockets with more money.

We see where you stand. Mind your own business, and get out of the way of people trying to make a living.

What will our fearless leader, Gavin, do about this?
Surely he's got the answer. He wants to be prez, so he must have the smarts.

The case goes back to a district court to see if the AB-5 law violates the commerce clause.

If the law is enforced independent truckers legal in another state would have to have another carrier take the cargo to the border leaving or at the border when entering California.

Our fearless leader..LOL...is the one who wanted this legislation. So he's going to do absolutely nothing but watch the supply chain collapse and proclaim "I did that..."

The Fed owns the commerce clause. But I doubt the Fed will act badly towards California.
