We should be building temporary hospitals right now like China did. If we don't contain this--and without testing it's going to be difficult--then we are going to need a lot more ICU beds than we have now.
We should Never do "what China did"!

I do not know what that poster was getting at, but here is a news flash for you. Much of the media in western cultures are liberal.
They seem to be of the mindset that the UN and other globalist entities such as the EU should all be of the same mind/view.
They latch on to various policies that would bankrupt places like the USA, while allowing other countries to get a free ride.
I could go on and on, but rest assured even global news media sources like Reuters and the AP are left of center.
That alone has nothing to do with Trump, but they detest populism and/or nationalism. So it stands to reason they would be against any leader like Trump, Johnson and the like.

I haven't found any good in Trump..maybe that his leadership has caused people to be more proactive and do things like march but that's obviously just a side effect or maybe that he's too dumb to be able to get most bad policies out there. So basically nothing that he has actually done is good.

The panic surrounding the virus is overblown but it's definitely inappropriate to mock medical experts especially when you're supposed to be a leader.

The problem with pointing at this one's 3.4% rate vs H1N1 is that corona is disproportionately affecting the older population, as in the people already vulnerable that would likely die with just about any bad infection anyways. It seems ridiculously hard to find an age breakdown of the mortality rate for H1N1. To reference the regular flu, about 81% of deaths occur in people 65 and older which has been the bulk of the corona cases period, not just the deaths. The data is ridiculously skewed.

Ouch, that's a little too much truth to take in!

They must be providing a product that the public likes then. This is capitalism after all. You do support capitalism, yes?

I just didn't see all the politicization that I do now. What am I missing?
COVID-19 is more airbore than the flu. It survives longer on surfaces than the flu. It has an incubation period. The flu doesn't. The COVID-19 incubation period lasts anywhere between 1 and 27 days, and all the while you're contagious. So you have no clue that you've got the thing, but you're spreading the disease anyways.

So what about lethality. The 2009 flu "pandemic" ended up being a fairly average flu season. About 1.4 billion people got the H1N1 "swine flu". The highest estimate of fatalities is 575,400. If we go with the maximums, we come out with a death rate of 0.04%.

There are 128,343 confirmed COVID-19 cases right now. This genie just barely got out of the bottle. With that tiny start, it's already killed 4720 people and that's not even counting deaths that China and Iran refuse to admit to. In most of the cases, we're still waiting to see whether the victims live or die, so we really shouldn't factor the full total in. Still, just for fun, let's do so anyways. COVID-19 has killed 3.7% of everyone who's caught it, which would make it 92.5 times more deadly than the Swine Flu. But if we do the numbers right, we look at the total recovered 68,324 vs the 4720 dead. Added together, we have all COVID-19 cases that have reached a final resolution. That's where you get the kill rate for this thing.

68,324 + 4720 = 73044
4720 / 73,044 = 6.4%

So that's 160 times deadlier than the Swine Flu.

What does that look like when it reaches the same kind of numbers as a flu outbreak?

1 billion COVID-19 cases = 64 million dead people
2 billion COVID-19 cases = 128 million dead people
3 billion COVID-19 cases = 256 million dead people
4 billion COVID-19 cases = 512 million dead people

Yeah that's one helluva lot scarier than the flu. And remember, this thing is more contagious and one helluva lot better at spreading than the flu, so it certainly can reach a few billion victims.

I just read that around a half a million people died from Swine Flu in a year and I can’t really remember much about it. Obama was crying about Confederate Statues I think.

Go look up the words exponential growth. See if you are capable of understanding what it means since you're so good at math. Also look up mortality rates between the flu and the coronavirus. It won't be hard to find because it is literally everywhere.

Good grief.
China is ground zero for this outbreak. They have had about 80,000 cases-and the number of sick is dropping every day. 80,000, out of a population of what, 1.3 billion? An infection rate of .006 percent. 60 million Americans got H1N1, out of a population of about 300 million, or 20 percent.
