If we use a mid-point of 150K dead - and if even 1/3rd of those are in the NY area, that means likely 500,000+ cases just right there.
I think that could be low - but if 20% of those 500,000 need hospitalized and (100,000) and 50% of the hospitalized need ventilated, that would be 50,000 persons needing them.
Ventilation is needed for as long as 10-20 days so the turnover may not be too quick.
When Cuomo says 20k, 30K, 40K it's all a matter of trying to avoid something which might come.
Look at it this way, If you got into War and your planners say you need 16 million rounds of ammo, would you say "no you don't, here is 5 million" or would you place orders for 20 million....just in case....AND, have the capacity to make many more if the chit hits the fan? I know what i would do.
I mean - why would they need up-armoured Hum-Vees for Iraq since it would last 5 weeks and we'd be greeted as Liberators?
Why does an airliner need so much extra fuel in addition to what it uses to get to the destination?
These are obvious questions and certainly way paste my or your pay scale (unless you have a secret life as a logistics planner and emergency planner).
You seem to parrot almost everything he says and try to make a way to make it "true". Many of those masses are single use. Can you sit down and try and figure out how many different health workers encounter how many patients and how many times? I can't.

Despite your seeming support of the Sane one I feel strongly that if you were in his position and had been privy to the briefings he's had over the lat 90 days, you would do MUCH better than he is because you might just listen to the people who told you things and not just care about your own ratings or saving your skin.
