I almost agree with the OP. Almost. I think shutting down the whole country's economy is too much.....it could cause more problems than the CV. But what to do...? this is a tough one... Trump (and all politicians) are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Maybe isolate all Americans into 3 groups....?
1) Elderly and others with health problems
2) Older but healthy
3) Younger, healthy people
Let #3 go back to work.....forced quarantine of #1. #2 on self quarantine, just stay away from the public and stay healthy.

12-25 percent of those hospitalized are in your number three group. Run out of hospital space for them, what do you think will happen?

You have a far better chance of being killed by your doctor prescribing you the wrong drug or making a medical error than you do from dying from corona virus.
I cannot believe how idiotic our government is, basically collapsing our economy over something akin to the common cold or a strong seasonal flu. If the economy totally collapses and doctors & nurses refuse to go to work because they aren't getting paid, then you'll find out quickly what a real crisis is!

Here in the real world, blood tests have to be approved by the FDA and vetted in studies that take months to years. Bleating about not having a medical test that never exited before is beyond silly. Grow up.
You actually have the perfect president for this sort of thing. The president that pushed through "right to try" is exactly the type of person you want in charge. He's a lot more likely to hold the FDA's feet to the fire to speed up the process.
'Medical care' is overrated.
The pharmaceutical industry is the major financial backer for most student medical programs and many hospitals.
I can knock out any virus with the herbs and natural remedies I have at home, but it will take doctors and scientists many months or years to create a stupid vaccine.

Go for it man, go to a hospital where the cases are, take a deep breath and hug all the patients.
The statistics they are giving, are only from testing being done on certain people...they have not tested everyone and have NO idea how many people have it.
Statistics are meaningless at this point but we do know our health system is being overwhelmed in NY and other places and those who think this won’t spread to other states are kidding themselves.
