The fact that his disbanding the NSC Pandemic Unit was followed shortly by a Pandemic appears not to register with these folks.

You are right! We are under-supplied, just like many, if not all, of the other countries that’s fighting this bat-rat soup virus.

But to blame this pandemic and deaths because of Trump is ridiculous! Yes, some people on here are blaming Trump (that’s all they do here) day in day out thread after thread, Lol. It’s nauseating.

Are people really this stupid?

Probably, yes. If Trump would have listened. For everything but the vaccine. Closing our borders bought us needed time. Time that should have been spent ramping up production. We lost time thinking closing the borders was the only action needed. We also left the cdc position in China unfilled.

The NSC might have coordinated a response that didn't involve needing quite so many ventilators and masks. Like in South Korea or Singapore. Instead, we had a lying ****** as president misinform the public about the nature of the virus, leading many people to take unnecessary risks with public health.

Might? Pshhh!

How many Americans have died because they didn’t have a ventilator? None that I’ve seen reported. People are dying because of their compromised immune system, not because he or she didn’t have a ventilator. People are dying with ventilators.

Stop with your bitter nonsense, Lol.

So now sounds like saying that because the Pandemic Unit was disbanded, we got a Pandemic. Get real.

Even if the Pandemic unit had not been shut down, we would not have been any better prepared - this was a very small office on the National Security Council (NSC) that was focused on NSC pandemic concerns - NOT the main capability to prepare for Pandemics. The unit was created by the Obama administration in response to Ebola in the US, that disease has had little impact on the US currently. It was shut down because they were trying to cut NSC staff and the focus of the office was off from priority concerns.

We will probably start seeing this happen in April. You know, when Trump said the virus would "disappear....like a miracle".

According to what she says, she might get in some trouble for revealing what’s going on. Though she doesn’t care. Just wants to get word out about how bad it is...
While I'm not making light of the issue - Elmhurst has always been a busy hospital and a good amt of the people they treat are undocumented aliens and the poor. Wait time has always been a problem as these people don't have primary doctors and use the ER as a primary doctor and have since H1N1 and before.

Failure to institute some type of program to get these people non-emergency help hasn't happened.

https://nypost.com/2020/03/19/we-did...-for-pandemic/

Plus the lack of medical supplies have been a problem for years. All of you who don't live in NY State and think how wonderful Cuomo is have no clue how ruthless he is and the skeletons he has in his closets. It's not about NYers - it's about his own personal fiefdom. He knew 4/5 yrs ago that hospitals had supply shortages and instead of buying new and making sure there were enough ventilators - decided it was cheaper to restore what they had.

Our ER doc has been in practice 3/5 yrs and has no idea that these decisions from 2015/2016 are the reason they are in the mess they are today.
