I happen to know an elderly person who was taken to the ER this week, was tested for China flue, negative, had Flu type B.
People get sick, believe that they have the China Flu and flee to the ER. Your point?

Blame throwing, eh.

No city, county, state or country is prepared for a global pandemic of this magnitude, that happens once per 100 years.

NYC is the most populated city in the US and it is being hit hard. Nothing to do with politics.

Corona don’t care about politics.

Seems to be a goofy notion that healthcare professionals who work for faith based hospitals should not be paid for their work.

All hospitals compete for qualified Human Resources. How many people are willing and able to work for no wages? Why would anyone choose to work for a hospital or any employer for that matter, that did not offer competitive wages and benefits?

And oh, now those government programs are being run by family and friends of the politicians that passed the laws to begin with.
Do you think the Sunday collection plate or bell rising during the holidays completely funds this stuff?

You seem to be confusing government funding with government execution of services.

Catholic Charities is the largest charitable conduit in the US. Government realizes the charity can do a better job meeting community needs than government can.

Same deal for the Salvation Army.

Same deal with tens of thousands community based programs.

There's no doubt, NYC is an absolute disaster. Their state and local response was the worst in the entire world.....but we can't blame their leaders for that for some reason.

They closed down a number of hospitals in New York City.
Just a few that come quickly to mind.
L.I.C. Hospital Hicks St. Brooklyn.
St John's Hospital Elmhurst Queens
St Joseph's Hospital Flushing Queens
St. Mary's Hospital Jamaica Queens

Why were they closed?
Business.......Business......Business............ You either turn a buck or sink like a rock.................
This is why New York will always be on the cusp of inability to serve the health needs of its' citizens................
Hospitals are closing all over the country that aren't profitable - nothing unique to NY there! And it's not just city hospitals, lots of rural hospitals are closing as well, in fact likely more rural hospitals than city hospitals.

Actually, Donald Trump was on Fox News ridiculing the NYC hospitals' requests for ventilators. He claimed that hospitals that normally have 2 ventilators now claim they need 30,000!

Trump is also on TV all day every day shouting about how he's handled things perfectly and he's supporting all the states, giving them everything they need.... and then when governors plead for supplies they don't have and say people are dying, Trump blames them for not handling everything themselves!

The man is despicable.
