How could they know how dangerous it was in early December if it had been in America at least since January and Trump relentlessly pushed the narrative for many weeks that it was just like the regular flu?

Makes no sense.

Weren't you also part of the "its just like the regular flu" crowd?

So why didnt Trump shut down international flights from New York to the rest of the world in January?

Wuhan never stopped international fights....
December 1st, they had the first patient to doctor transfer. They knew what it was early. Wuhan went on lockdown... except international flights out. WHY?

First patient to doctor transfer means nothing. If the first doctor in China knew how serious it was, then so would the first doctor in America. In January.

But Trump believed it was just like the regular flu even though China had shut down its economy over this "flu". So why did Trump allow it to spread and not contain it? He even allowed flights of American citizens from China without any screening or isolation. And international flights out of New York to spread it around the world. And zero pandemic response preparation.

The real problem was the attitude of 15 to 0. When we knew how contagious it was, we decided not to act.

China deserves some of the blame for not accurate reporting how dangerous it was. But the remaining 90% of the blame is on us for not acting when we knew how dangerous it was. Banning flights was good, but one good act shouldn't allow us to ignore all the missteps the federal government and President took.

Yes, and then China will demand its debt repayment from America and bankrupt our economy, perfect plan.

China will get a slap on the wrist

They lost their jobs because TRUMP "skrewed" up on the virus response so the governors had to shut down the economy.

The elephant in the room that Trump supporters want to ignore and explain away. He was warned and chose to ignore the warnings. The outbreak could have been stopped very quickly. We weren't slammed with cases in the beginning, unlike some other countries. How can you blame CHINA for OUR OWN LEADER'S failure to act?

Jobs lost, economy wrecked, and thousands of deaths, this is Trump's doing, not China.

And then China will get it's debt declared void and China will be bankrupted.

If anything, coronavirus has exposed how woefully inadequate our pandemic preparation is, so we should be thankful the virus isnt even worse.
It's the way the one party Chinese communist party handled the situation that makes it difficult to carry on business as usual with China. Push comes to shove I'd rather see nations here in the Americas benefit from our trade.
