There's nothing new about it. The only thing that is new is that our friends on the far left are not "liberal" anymore, they are now socialists and communists. They view "liberals" as the "far right"

THIS!!!!!

And it sucks -- every world leader will be criticized for the 'negatives' of this whole crisis -- that's how it works.

Trump adds to his own problems by making outlandish, bold, ridiculous, silly statements. Claiming drugs to be the cure, having a knack for this sort of thing, we'll all be in church for Easter.......

He gambles that he might be proven right and when he isn't he looks the fool.

You would think he would have figured it out by now. Better to be understated and right than overstated and wrong.

Trump's response was better than Belgium, Italy, Spain, UK, Sweden...

“We have it totally under control,” Trump said Jan. 22 from Davos, Switzerland. “It’s going to be just fine.”

Behind the scenes, however, even some of his close aides thought the virus posed a much greater threat to the nation and to Trump.

Three months later, the United States leads the world in reported numbers of people infected and killed by the virus, with more than 39,000 dead. States, counties and local hospitals are desperately bidding against one another for scarce ventilators and other lifesaving equipment in a marketplace dominated by chaos, profiteering and fraud. And the country’s economy is in free fall, with more than 20 million Americans filing unemployment claims in the last month.”
Trump must have been listening to Fauci, he said the same thing the day before Trump did...

according to Dan Crenshaw, and I haven't seen it disputed, the 40K were American citizens and green card holders. You might get some enlightenment from this video exchange with Bill Maher

Git a life.
Yeah, his response was fine so far. Of course, the mainstream media is going to try and criticize Trump over this. They have to as they're in campaigning season and they don't want to ever forget how the felt on that night back in 2016.

Practically everyone said this seemed no worse than the flu, and now they're criticizing Trump for saying that very same thing. Even the reporters criticizing Trump said it was no worse than the flu. But Orange Man Bad.

If you compare the US results with other countries so far, we've done well. Fewer deaths per 100K than Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland. This includes the fact that the Us numbers are heavily skewed by NYC, where the mayor actively encouraged people to "go out despite the corona virus" and the health commissioner told people to "go about their regular lives" and that you couldn't catch covid-19 on a subway. But you won't hear much about that in the news, they're too busy reminding everyone that Trump compared covid-19 to the flu!

as I have said - the CDC, FDA etal are accountable, but in the end he is responsible.

I would love one reporter to try and frame it that way - "the buck stops here" - without assigning blame before getting to that part. Instead, every time I've seen it ... 'You said 15 cases would soon be zero, and it would miraculously disappear. Why did you do that, and aren't you responsible for us being the 'worst in cases and deaths'?"

I love how they decided the result they wanted first, and then realize they could get it if they ignored the extreme differences in the populations of those countries.

How to lie with statistics. And you fell for it.

So yeah, it had a mild effect. The results don't come close to what was achieved elsewhere though, such as Vietnam or South Korea.
