And Republicans (Trump) are using the crisis to give handouts -- making sure his name is associated with the stimulus . And the Republican federal govt. supported the guidelines for social distancing.

Have yet to see the quote about wanting endless lockdowns but that seems to be what the conservative media is selling folks.

Step away from the conservative media hype.

Folks want to get back to work and play but they want some kind of consistent guidelines, policies and practices to help protect us all.

That's not calling for a lock down or collapse of capitalism.

Really? Do you realize how much money has gone to big business with the first bailout? How much money is being pumped into the market to keep it propped up?

You really think that’s all part of the liberal plan?

Some of you have some serious paranoia.

How about testing? All this talk about mass testing like it was promised?

Officially calling for them?

No.

But jacking up the goalposts so they can nail wheels on the bottom?

Yep.

How nice for you. Bet you and/or your spouse have a job where you had good insurance so no surprise medical bills cut you off at the knees. Bet neither of you have been laid off for a significant time in the last four years. Bet the plant you worked at hasn’t closed. Bet you haven’t had a parent or child need support. Bet you aren’t working at a low paying job or at the bottom of the pyramid at a service industry job.

This level of arrogance drives me nuts, your blessed life is not shared by most people. I am not feeling financial strain, we own our home, have enough to live at least a year with no income, and are both still have income coming in. We are not the norm, the vast majority of people consider themselves lucky if they can claim even one of those things. We own rental property, two of our renters have not been able to pay rent so not only do we not have that money coming in but the expenses associated with the property still needs to be paid. We aren’t about to throw them out, they’ve been good tenets previously and this is not their fault, but we have the funds to cover this and most small rental property owners don’t so they may not have the luxury of being so generous without devastating their own family’s finances. Those other small property owners are not being selfish, they are afraid they will lose everything they have spent a lifetime building. I have no right to judge any of them, I am not walking in their shoes.

People who are afraid for their financial well-being are not deserving of your snark. Have you never heard the saying, There, but for the grace of God, go I?

So rather than telling people to STOP listening to such and such and to ONLY listen to epidemiologists... maybe the EPIDEMIOLOGISTS need to start talking to the BUSINESS people and ALL THE OTHER interests in the country as well.

Because more people are set to be affected by the pandemic's "cure" than the virus itself. Domino effects in supply change disruption are coming. And the workers in the 3rd world will be among the first to find themselves without a job, starving, and desperate while you sit at home and order Seamless and binge watch season 5 of whatever-the-hell on Hulu as you "do your part to save lives!"
Well, they are trying to by telling businesses what they need to do to keep their customers safe, but you have some like that coffee shop in Colorado that ignores any advice. Some seem to want all or nothing.

not everyone is as fortunate. Been paying attention to the job losses recently?

But don’t punish people who aren’t as well off as you — people need to work - it’s not about stock portfolios!!
The vast majority of the people suffering economically from this make $40,000 or less a year

Take your head out of the fake liberal news for a day......

I’m extreme high risk — 68 with damaged lungs, and I still want things to open up in a safe way for younger folks and the businesses that employ them.
I will continue to take responsibility to isolate myself and take nessesarry precautions so others don’t suffer economically,

Well I'm an extreme liberal and I do not want to keep the economy shut down. And I'm probably voting for Trump in November.

I'm surprised at the number of employEEs who put up with it. Customer masks (this is not a mask debate) are about protecting the employEE - not the customer - so I worked there, and had to deal with the public all day - and I were vulnerable - I'd have to make a difficult decision between paying my mortgage and risking my life.
