8.4 million people in new york. 23K dead so far. People here are saying 260 per 100K dead is the fatality rate. 21,840 dead-if every single human being in NY had been exposed. EVERY SINGLE PERSON. And we are at more then that.
Heres the problem, we know thats not true, because if it was NY would hit 0 deaths a couple weeks ago.
The math claimed by people here of 260 deaths per 100K estimate is a complete fantasy. The math on the ground, aka reality, doesn't match.
No, you don't but you do have common sense regulations. Starting with the nursing homes.
I don't think anyone would disagree with some nursing home regulations, but that's not really what people are upset about. I also think that it's smart for old people to take extra precautions.....but we're not seeing common sense regulations, we're seeing authoritarian nonsense in many states.
This is clearly the grim reaper for the elderly and immuno compromosed. Not so much for every one else. The long incubation time increases spread, especially in areas that the above 2 groups congregate.

Even in those groups it's still a fairly small minority that will have serious problems if infected. Those are just the groups that are most at risk.

And we are seeing instead of rational opposition to those measures people discounting this illness as just the flu and ignoring basic small things that would save lives and improve the business environment. Until this virus gets under control businesses will suffer regardless of what government does.

Not true. Business would be just fine if government stopped interfering with or outright preventing it. The response to the virus has thus far been considerably more harmful than the virus itself.
