Based on age and health concerns, I could be a poster boy for someone who doesn't want to get CV. I would probably die. So people like me should sit on the sidelines of this pandemic and follow the rules. However I have never believed my own situation should be applicable to younger people. The risks for them are far different than me and they shouldn't be bound by the same precautions that I face. Let them live their lives! The government has appropriately provided information on how to best protect ourselves, if adults choose to ignore them, so be it. Right now, they're being treated like children. I understand their frustration. However just as we don't allow people to smoke in businesses, business owners should be also be free to set the rules for the own businesses. If you don't want people in your place of businesses without masks, that should be your right. a lot of stupid people on both sides. Ruining our economy over this will have a far greater effect on our country long term then whether 200,000 people die rather than 120,000.
And in another couple months, they will revise their estimate and say it is even lower. Sorry future generations, we all bankrupted you so lefties could get paid to stay home, smoke pot and watch porn for month on end. We could have spent some of that money reshoring industry so at least future generations could have employment opportunities to look forward to besides taco bell, but the left didn't like that idea a whole lot.
If the left doesn't like it so well then why did the reshoring trend and the economic boom get started during the Obama administration? And red states as a whole are far more likely to have fewer employment opportunities in higher wage jobs then blue states are. Reshoring has been going on for a few years and the economy was at near record highs during the later years of tge Obama administration. Those trends continued under Trump, but they didn't start with him by any means. Some folks on the right have a pathological hate and disdain for those who disagree with them.
Lefiies work...the blue states as a whole are the country's most innovative and prosperous ones, and I am pretty sure a lot of righties smoke pot and watch porn, too lol. Trump ibtentionally walked in on nude teenage contestants in his Muss Teen pageant and bragged about doing so on national radio, so I am pretty sure he probably has an interesting web browsing history.
so i don't know if you are just using numbers but....
200k is not a number that represents anything.
worldwide the number is 340k-ish?
USA 95k-ish?
flu in 2018 killed 650k-ish
in the US 61k-ish
Just for context because it came up in another post...
1918 flu pandemic
500Million people infecte4d (1/3 of the worlds population)
50 Million deaths
675k dead in the USA
There were 100M people in the US at the time.
In 1969 100k people died of H3N2 Flu. There were roughly 200M people in the US.
We have seen years where flu has been as deadly as this pandemic without this level of response.
we have seen years (1918 where more people died and it was very disruptive.)
200k is the number of Covid-19 deaths we will have in the US by the end of July. After that, nobody knows. In a 12-month period it could be just a smattering more, or it could be 1 million.
IF we manage to put a cap on this outbreak, it will be only a little worse than the Hong Kong flu. If not, it could be on a scale closer to the Spanish Flu.
200k is the number of Covid-19 deaths we will have in the US by the end of July.
So in the 107 days from February 6th, the date of the first COVID-19 death in the US, to May 23rd there were 98,000 deaths and you think there will be another 102K deaths over the next 69 days? Bold.
how is this a leftist lockdown when we have a republican president, a republican controlled senate, and states with republican governors who also agreed to do lockdowns?
Actually it killed 90k of the people since April 1...thats 53 days. 102k more in 69 days does not seem bold at all.
First of April was the last time any 10 day a span didn't have at least ten thousand deaths. 70k more in 69 days seems like the low end.
