In the first month, more Black people will die in Minneapolis than have died at the hand of police since 1970 in the entire country. You do not cut down your entire apple orchard because there are ten bad apples in your bushel basket.
If you're a Demorat, you burn down your field and blame it on your neighbor and demand his field.
As someone who used to work in a social service agency that dealt with violent criminals on parole, the drug addicted, mentally ill, rapists, wife abusers etc. I used to WISH we had police around. Or even a security guard with some kind of weapon. It was absolutely terrifying to go into work every day and wonder if someone was going to lose it. I lasted exactly one year at that place. Another job I turned down involved going into high crime areas and doing home visits--alone. Nope. No way. Good luck finding a social service worker who is going to go unarmed into an area with sky high homicide and rape rates. Especially in a field dominated by women.
I don't think this police force of social workers, or 'transformative public safety" squad will be any match for gang leaders, serial killers, terrorists, rapists, arsonists, and mass shooters. I see a mass exodus of businesses and residents from any city that tries this.
You are 100 percent correct. This idea of using social workers makes no sense.
Even hospice workers need an escort to go into some homes.
Nope...Im a white guy, born in OH, Im a regional rep for a large 'chain' gas station/convenience stores.
Do you think your garden variety patron who just wants to buy gas and/or goods in your store and not be hassled by neighborhood rubbish finds the cars in your lot where drug transactions are taking place welcoming?
